Veterans have cautioned that the Invictus Games could be exposed to the risk of terrorist assaults after Prince Harry declared that he had slain 25 Taliban members.
Veterans Warn That The Invictus Games Could Be Targeted By Terrorists After Harry Admitted Killing 25 Taliban Members
The Duke of Sussex has established the Invictus Games, a worldwide sports event for injured veterans that came into effect in 2014.
The forthcoming tournament is anticipated to occur in Dusseldorf, Germany in September, however, military specialists suggest that additional precautions should probably be taken to safeguard the veterans.
The former head of the Navy, Admiral Lord West, had this to say: “The Invictus Games is very much labelled to him and so I would have thought the threat level there will definitely be higher.
“There will be serious security issues because of what he said. The Taliban will be reading it thinking there’s this prince calling us all chess pieces and is quite happy about killing us.”
According to an ex-military mental health specialist who spoke to the Mail on Sunday, there were some former patients who were concerned after reading about Harry’s remarks in his upcoming autobiography, Spare.
In the book, he has blatantly disregarded a long-held military practice by discussing the specifics of his experience with his Apache gunship and how he rationalised killing enemy combatants by viewing them as pieces on a chessboard.
And that is something that could backfire. The Admiral’s following comments confirmed as much: “And there will be a lot of people, I am sure, in Islamic State and other terrorist organisations, who will think this is something which should be avenged.”
The fans on social media questioned whether Harry should be associated with the games. And in the process, some wanted to see him move away from his role.
One person wrote: “It’s unthinkable that Harry can continue to be associated with The Invictus Games given that he’s just put the lives of its participants in danger.”
So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
