Something that I recently found out about WWE is that they run quite a few live shows in addition to their regular slate of shows. Here are a few things that I found out about WWE by looking at the results of their recent slate of live events.
What Are WWE Live Shows
Newer wrestling fans may not know what live or house shows are. They are basically non televised wrestling shows that companies put on aside from their main shows, in this case, Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown.
The names of the two shows a week that they run are Saturday Night’s Main Event and Sunday Stunner. The main purpose of these shows is to allow smaller cities that wouldn’t be able to have a Raw or Smackdown to see WWE superstars live.
The recent cities that these live shows have been to over the past two weeks include Binghamton in New York, Erie in Pennsylvania, Corbin in Kentucky, and Roanoke in Virginia. I think that the attendance is usually around 3000 people.
Another purpose for these shows is for them to try out new and different combinations before they actually put it on television. For a few weeks before you see a new feud on television, they have probably been wrestling on the live events.
While many of the matches on the show are random combinations that don’t mean anything, a few of the matches are relevant and could mean something for the main shows.
What I Found Out from the Live Events
While many of the matches on these live events respect the brand split, there are quite a few times that it goes out the window. One of the matches that I repeatedly saw over the past few weeks was Dominik vs Butch with Dominik winning.
From this, I think that they are trying to get Dom better in the ring very quickly. They might be getting ready to put Dominik in a position that he will have to be in the ring week to week. Maybe a tag team title run?
I also saw a lot of Imperium vs Braun Stroman, Nakamura, and Madcap Moss matches. It is possible that these could be throw away matches, but don’t be surprised if you see this matchup on television sometime soon.
Charlotte vs Shayna Baszler is another match that I saw quite a few times. I think that Shayna might be getting ready to get into a program with Charlotte leading up to WrestleMania and beyond.
The biggest match that they tend to put on is Seth Rollins vs Austin Theory for the US title with Theory winning. They are usually no DQ matches.
On a side note, I think that it is crazy to think that WWE’s event schedule, week to week, is on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. There are many wrestlers that wrestle three days in a row every week.
