Thea Hail is the youngest name on the NXT roster, and as part of Chase U – is a rising star. Tonight, she looks to finally claim her first victory – just one week after a gutsy battle royale performance. Prior to this, Andre Chase found some footage of Duke Hudson saying that Chase U’s losses are reflecting poorly on him, but Hail’s match needs to come first.
Thea Hail Claims First Victory Of Promising Career
Valentina Feroz is someone also looking for a big win on TV, but with Sanga having reunited with Veer and now Jinder Mahal – has no one in her corner. Feroz would take Hail down with a side headlock, with Hail able to work her way out of the hold. Hail would trip Feroz into a two count, before a deep arm drag.
Feroz would fire back with an arm drag of her own before a stiff dropkick. Hail would look for a Crucifix Pin as Elektra Lopez came down the ramp to watch this match closely. Feroz would meet Hail in the middle with a crossbody, and Lopez handed Feroz brass knuckles. She would refuse to use them, and Hail would nail a cutter for the first win of her career.
After the match, Lopez would ask why she didn’t take the shot. In an industry like this, you can’t afford to let a win pass you by like that. Feroz needs to use this as a learning chance, and watch Lopez’s match with Wendy Choo next week very closely.
New Day
Since becoming NXT Tag Team Champions at NXT Deadline, Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods have been planning for their rematch with Pretty Deadly – only to have Gallus throw a wrench in their plans, winning last weeks Gauntlet Match. Gallus is one of the few teams who have come close to matching the tag team records set by The New Day, and could well be the next challengers for their belts. Tonight we hear from The New Day, about just who gets the title shot at Vengeance Day.
New Day would first celebrate being done with Pretty Deadly, and acknowledged Gallus as their next challengers. Pretty Deadly called this an absolute travesty, talking nonsense – asking if they thought this was funny. They would say they’re the rightful number on contenders, only for Gallus to stomp out to the ring.
Wolfgang said New Day have it bang on, as Pretty Deadly were dropped by them last week. Anyones chance of being champions going forward are slim, as Gallus are back on top. First fell Pretty Deadly, then Briggs & Jensen, and New Day are next. The New Day had issues understanding the accent of Wolfgang, but knew what someone looking for a fight looks like.
We’d get a three team brawl, with former NXT Tag Team Champion Oney Lorcan joining other staff in breaking up a brawl. It’s unclear if Gallus & Pretty Deadly both get their shot at Vengeance Day –
Last week at New Years Evil, Bron Breakker would retain the NXT Championship against Grayson Waller – but was left feeling extremely unfulfilled. This was because it wasn’t a pinfall or submission victory, but a count out due to an error with the ring ropes. Vic Joseph would catch up with the champion for an interview, to get his thoughts on the upcoming rematch with Waller at Vengeance Day in a solid steel cage.
Over the past week, Breakker just wanted to get the bad taste out of his mouth. He wanted to stand above Waller as a dominant champion, but that was not how things went. Waller all but had him beat after a stiff knee to the face, and Breakker had issues kicking out. He doesn’t quite know if he would have kicked out of the elbow drop, but that doesn’t matter.
Two weeks from Saturday, he enters his first steel cage match – and the champion loves it. There’s nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, no ropes to break. Breakker isn’t gonna climb out to get the win, he intends to kick Wallers ass in the middle of the ring.
