Back at NXT Deadline, we would see new NXT Tag Team Champions crowned in the form of The New Day. Pretty Deadly would demand their rematch, but The New Day would only give them this if they could recite the Pledge of Allegiance. They were unable to do this, but Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen had no issues doing so. So now they get their title shot tonight – with Pretty Deadly needing to watch from the sidelines and wait their turn.
The New Day Nearly Underestimate Their Opponents
Kingston would kick things off with Jensen, and would be sent rolling into the corner. Jensen would take a chop to the spine, before being shoved as Kingston would start to fire up the crowd. Kingston would be dropped with a lariat, before being slammed into the mat for a one count.
Woods would get the tag, and got the control back in the corner of The New Day. Jensen would be dropped with a shotgun dropkick, before Woods was launched into a basement dropkick for a two count. Briggs & Jensen would work together to drop Woods, working together to set up a bearhug.
Woods would be driven into the corner spine over and over, before he’d attempt a Sunset Flip and get his neck snapped by the legs of Briggs. Briggs would get a two count, before Jensen applied a tight rear chinlock. Woods would be able to slip free, and nailed the enziguri and completed the tag.
Kingston would miss the jumping lariat, before coming out of the corner with a springboard crossbody. Boom Drop would follow, with Jensen able to block the Trouble in Paradise, before getting the bottom rope following the S.O.S. Kingston would send Jensen into a tag to Briggs, who would take the fight to the floor and tossed Kingston into the ropes to set up a forearm smash.
Back in the ring, Briggs would launch Kingston up into a Manhattan Drop from Jensen, before the running big boot for a two count. Briggs would go to the top rope, and came down hard with a moonsault for a near fall. Kingston would be able to hit a PoisonRana before Trouble In Paradise. Woods would hit the springboard elbow and this match was over.
Grayson Waller Was Ready For Bron Breakker
All night, Grayson Waller would be calling out Bron Breakker for his NXT Championship match – knowing he was in North Carolina promoting Vengeance Day. Calling the NXT Champion a coward is bad for your health, but that didn’t stop Waller tonight. He’d urge Breakker to meet him in the ring to close the show, as confident as ever.
He’d once again call for Breakker to come defend his belt, and called him a coward when he didn’t show. Waller would claim that he’s carried NXT on his back for the entirety of 2022, and not a man or woman in WWE who can do what he can do. Soon, he’ll prove himself as the greatest NXT Champion of all time.
Waller would shut up as Breakker rolled up to the arena, before claiming he’s not scared of anyone. Breakker would hit the ring and ran Waller down with a spear… and was the one to take the damage. Under the coat of Waller was a bulletproof vest with a metal plate, an old Bret Hart trick.
