Backstage earlier tonight, Tyler Bate caught Axiom watching a match from his past – with Bate taking on A-Kid. Bate misses A-Kid, but Axiom reminds him a lot of A-Kid. They would decide to put together a match for tonight, only for Damon Kemp to come to insult their “friendly competition”, calling both men and everyone that came from the UK scene soft. Bate would insult Kemp as he walked away – something someone as petty as Kemp might not let stand.
A Match That Can Steal Any Show – Tyler Bate vs. Axiom
They’d lock up in the middle of the ring, getting some grappling in as they worked through their holds. Axiom would be tripped up onto the mat for a one count, before having an arm drag blocked. Bate would keep control of the arm – even as Axiom would find his feet. Axiom would use the referee to do a backflip, but Bate maintained control.
Finally, Axiom would get a headscissor hold applied, and used this to get free before nailing a dropkick. The first strike was thrown, and Bate didn’t hesitate coming back with a spin kick to the midsection. Both men would crash over the top rope and onto the apron after a huge arm drag, with Bate grabbing a side headlock as they got back into the ring.
Aximo would be able to wrestle his way free and apply the headscissors on the mat. Bate would use a handstand to get free, before hitting the dropkick. A springboard lariat out of the corner followed, before Bate would look to apply the Abdominal Stretch in the middle of the ring. Axiom would fight free and hit the Northern Lights Suplex – flowing right into a Triangle Sleeper.
Bate would look for a powerbomb style escape, before simply going for the aeroplane spin – rotating Axiom both ways in the middle of the ring before a slam for a two count. Axiom & Bate would trade strikes in the middle of the ring – with Bate taken to the mat for a PK – getting a near fall.
An Early NXT Match Of The Year Contender
Bate would head to the middle rope for the flying uppercut, flying right into a crossface chickenwing onto the mat. Axiom couldn’t keep Bate grounded, but landed a superkick all the same. Bate would block the pinfall – getting a two count of his own with a flash pinfall. Rolling Liger Kick would be avoided, but Bop & Bang would not be.
Boing Lariat would be the prelude to Tyler Driver ‘97, Bate bouncing off the ropes with great speed. Axiom would block the Tyler Driver into a hurricanrana, getting a near fall. Bate would be able to roll this right back up into the Tyler Driver – spiking Axiom for the victory. It doesn’t get much better than that on Tuesday Nights.
After the match, Damon Kemp would rush the ring as Bate & Axiom shook hands – dropping Axiom with a backbreaker. He’d get into the face of Axiom on the mat and talk some trash, only for Bate to quickly run him off. This issue won’t end here, and Tyler Bate might need to teach Bate he’s far from soft.
Last week, Roxanne Perez was played like a fiddle by Jacy Jayne & Gigi Dolin. They would spend all night going after each other verbally, pulling out insecurities and faults – all to pull the wool over the eyes of the champion. When it came time for the championship summit, Perez was convinced that Dolin & Jayne were truly broken up as a tag team – only to take a double chokeslam through the table as a result. Tonight, Perez has a chance to respond to her challengers, with the triple threat match at Vengeance Day looming.
Perez became the youngest woman to ever compete in the Royal Rumble, and she proved herself infront of 50k fans. It was incredible, but Toxic Attraction still thinks she’s pathetic – because she didn’t win. Maybe it was being put through a table by Dolin & Jayne that costed her on Saturday.
Perez will be facing two of the baddest women in all of NXT – and while she had a great 2022 on the brand, she might have peaked. By getting into the business of Toxic Attraction, she doomed her career. It’ll be two against one at Vengeance Day, and it will be the end of her rookie run.
Perez would stomp off from the interview, and Dolin & Jayne would again state that they want to leave as co-champion. Dolin would let it slip that she intends to become champion, as Perez would jump onto them and beat them down with fury.
