Last week, following Bron Breakker successfully defending the NXT Championship, he’d have his next challenger step up – with NXT UK Champion Tyler Bate back in America. Tonight, Bate will make his in-ring debut for NXT 2.0, as he faces the always menacing Von Wagner. Wagner had spent some time in the UK with NXT UK, and would love a chance to claim the belt for his own interests.
Tyler Bate Looks To Remind Everyone What Being NXT UK Champion Means
Bate would quickly look to beat Wagner into the corner, before taking a big boot right to the jaw. While Wagner is a good way to get ready for a man like Breakker in theory – it’s also a good way to potentially get injured. Wagner would apply the rear chinlock – and Bate would break free.
A flurry of strikes would follow, before the attempt at Tyler Driver ‘97. Bate would take the Fallaway Slam, before being able to send Wagner to the floor with an enziguri. He’d nail the dive over the top rope, and got all of it. Despite this, in the ring – Wagner would nail a short arm lariat, and get a two count.
Bate would go for a lariat of his own, before Bop & Bang, before another right hand. Rolling wheel kick, exploder suplex – and the Spiral Tap would follow – getting the win. The crowd was absolutely on fire for that final stretch – reminding everyone just why he’s one of the best in the world.
The Lights Go Out On The NXT Arena
Wendy Choo & Tiffany Stratton are becoming bitter rivals, and this extended to the recent 20 woman battle royale. Stratton would eliminate Choo, and in response? Choo put on Night Vision Goggles and assaulted Stratton in a dark room, as one does. Tonight, in what has been called a Lights Out match, fans of NXT 2.0 don’t have a clue what to expect.
Stratton had a new look coming into tonight, with braids reminiscent of Stardom wrestler Gulia. Choo meanwhile would wake up ready for combat, but didn’t go all the way back to Mei Ying yet. However, she’d take the onesie off for this match. The lights would go dim, and they’d start this fight in the ring. A dropkick would land, sending Stratton to the floor – before Choo would attack with a tennis racket and trash can.
In the ring, Choo would nail another kick to the face – and Stratton went to the floor again. She’d grab a tool box from under the ring, and would swing a turnbuckle support at Choo – but got the post instead. Choo would set up a trash can in the corner – before a big suplex. Stratton would get to use the trash can as a weapon, driving Choo into it face first.
Wendy Choo Survives Brutal Lights Out Match
Stratton would be hit in the face on the floor, before Choo went back up to her bed at the top to the ramp – and would shove it down into Stratton. A steel chair would be used, with CHoo being whacked across the face. The bedframe would be set up as a table at ringside, with Stratton looking to suplex Choo though.
Choo would be able to get to the apron and back into the ring, before a snap powerslam for a near fall. Stratton would set up the pink steel chair for the moonsault – but would miss. Choo would hit the brainbuster on a steel chair, but only got the two count. Stratton would survive a camel clutch with the turnbuckle support, and would spray Choo with some mace.
A powerbomb onto the steel chair would follow, before another attempt at the moonsault. Choo would use a loaded pillow to drop Stratton, before flooding the ring with Legos – which could be worse than thumbtacks! Stratton would hit the Fallaway Slam into the pile, before a scoop slam – but only got a two count.
Choo would drive Stratton through the bed at ringside, before rolling her into the ring. Senton would land – and Choo claims the victory! What is next for Choo & Stratton? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
