Mark Briscoe would finally make his AEW Dynamite debut a few weeks back, wrestling Jay Lethal in a tribute to his late brother, Jay Briscoe. Now tonight, he’s back in the mix as he re-ignites an old rivalry from the past of Ring of Honor against Josh Woods. When Briscoe last met Woods in the ring – Woods could still be considered to be a rookie, but he’s upped his game a lot since those days.
Woods would look to grapple Briscoe as this match began, with Briscoe showing he’s no slouch. Using his speed to slip between the legs of Woods to hit a shoulder tackle. Tony Nese & Ari Daivari would try to attack Briscoe to help Woods out, but were taken out by the Lucha Bros – before they brawled to the back. Briscoe would be caught with a corkscrew suplex off the apron to the floor, before Woods threw Briscoe into the steel steps.
AEW Dynamite Results: MJF Pays Off Christopher Daniels To Tell “The Truth” About Bryan Danielson, Mark Briscoe Defeats Josh Woods (02/15)
Back in the ring, Woods would look to keep the pressure on Briscoe with an axe handle to the back and some Crown Knee Strikes to the ribs. Woods would hit a stiff forearm smash to the jaw, with Briscoe firing up with his Redneck Kung Fu strikes only to be thrown with an Exploder Suplex. Woods would run into a hard throat thrust before taking a boot to the face.
Briscoe grabbed a steel chair, and would fire up the crowd before using it to launch himself over the top rope with a cannonball senton. Woods was set up on the top rope and dropped with the Razors Edge, before calling for the J-Driller. Briscoe was run into the corner instead and hit with the Pure Chaos rolling German Suplex.
Gutwrench Powerbomb and knee strike would follow, before Woods looked for the Butterfly Suplex. Briscoe blocked and hit the Pele Kick, following up with the Death Valley Driver. Going to the top rope, Briscoe would land the Froggy-Bow for the victory. He had the entire sold out crowd hanging on every moment, another example of how incredible Mark Briscoe is as a professional wrestling.
Adam Cole Is Learning To Take The Small Victories As He Returns To The Ring
Adam Cole has been on the long road to recovery following a massive concussion suffered during a Fatal Four Way for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Forbidden Door. He’s just about ready to return to the ring – and with AEW Revolution just around the corner, that’s the perfect stage for this huge return. Tonight, he sits down with Renee Paquette for an interview about the next steps he will take in his career.
Cole would start by saying he feels great being back on the road, albeit a bit nervous. He has been reminding himself to enjoy the small victories in life – like being able to see properly and not feeling nauseous all the time. Looking at the AEW roster, Cole sees many potential matches as he looks to start the next chapter of his career. He calls it a chapter long in the coming – as he’s been more or less a career villain, and with fan receptions as they are – Cole has no choice but to finally play the hero.
MJF Knows Bryan Danielson Will Put Him Through Hell On March 5th
Last week, Bryan Danielson would secure his title shot against MJF for AEW Revolution when he defeated RUSH in a dramatic match. Now, MJF needs to accept that he will go an hour with The American Dragon in an Iron Man match. Tonight, MJF is contractually obligated to appear on AEW Dynamite – and will likely have a lot to say about his upcoming defence of the AEW World Championship.
The fans would try to derail his promo, this being a very pro Danielson crowd. Once upon a time, they used to worship MJF like a god – but now are disgusting fickle little monsters. He’d say that unlike Danielson, he’s atleast honest of being a monster. But that’s not why he hates Danielson, it’s because fans are convinced that Danielson is better than him.
Fans consider Danielson the best professional wrestler in the world, and MJF would question why? Is it he’s entertaining, has the best moves and puts on 5 star bangers. MJF would claim that’s not what wrestling about, it’s about winning prizes like the AEW World Championship – which Danielson has never done.
Danielson is going to put MJF through the hardest hour of his career on March 5th, but once that clock hits zero? MJF will STILL be the AEW World Champion, because he’s better than Danielson, and Danielson knows it. Who else knows it? Christopher Daniels, who travelled the world with Danielson.
Christopher Daniels Tells The Truth About Bryan Danielson
Daniels would be brought to the ring to bad mouth Danielson, to tell the truth about Danielson. MJF paid Daniels an obscene amount of money for this, and while at one point he’d have done this – Daniels isn’t that kinda man anymore. The truth is Danielson will knock MJF’s dick in the dirt.
Daniels remembers the first time he wrestled Danielson 20 years ago, and he was struck so hard that Daniels thought he was gonna die. He watched Daniels win the King of The Indies in 2001, bringing Ring of Honor to the forefront at the right time, giving fans a promotion to proud of. Those same fans watch AEW today, and without Ring of Honor – there would be no MJF.
Danielson would strive to learn something new every day, and that led him to become World Champion time and time again, in ROH & WWE. Now, Daniels knows in his heart that he’s going to see the same thing in AEW. MJF hates Bryan Danielson because MJF wishes he could be Bryan Danielson. Daniels would say that MJF is going to be proven a fraud on March 5th, before slapping MJF in the jaw.
MJF would hit a low blow before applying the Salt of The Earth armbar. Danielson would rush the ring to make the save – and MJF would flee instantly out of fear. He can’t do that at March 5th, where he meets Danielson in the main event.
