With The Elite holding the AEW World Trios Championships, it’s time for the stacked trios division in AEW to really step up and make a name for themselves. One team who has proven themselves as challengers are AR Fox & Top Flight, after Top Flight were able to score the victory over The Young Bucks. Just a few days removed from defending against The Firm, The Elite won’t be 100% – perhaps setting the stage for an upset title change tonight. This is the very definition of a trap match for The Elite, who can’t get too over confident here tonight.
Top Flight & AR Fox Has Nothing To Lose And Everything To Gain
The Elite would make their usual big entrance to Carry On Wayward Son, getting a massive reaction. They had the gold, the big entrance, and the support of the fans – giving Top Flight & AR Fox a lot to take in, with Dante Martin starting with Nick Jackson. Dante would hit a quick dropkick before sending Nick into the wrong corner.
Top Flight would cut Nick down with some quick offence, before Matt Jackson ran in and was thrown onto his brother. Kenny Omega rushed in and took a superkick from Fox, with Darius Martin becoming legal. Darius would miss a blind tag from Nick to Matt, before taking a double team Neckbreaker. Omega would get the tag, nailing some heavy handed chops to the chest.
Big Backbreaker would follow, with Omega able to get a two count. Darius would find himself isolated in the The Elite corner, with Young Bucks making quick tags to keep the pressure on – Matt getting a two count off a snap suplex. Young Bucks hit a Fist Drop/Slingshot Senton combo, before Nick drove the face of Darius into the boots of Matt & Omega.
The Elite had cut the ring in half, with Matt even taking Fox & Dante off the apron to ensure no tag. Darius avoided a superkick and hit the Spanish Fly, only for Nick to dive onto him from off-screen. Fox would manage a tag, hitting Omega with a cutter before using his speed to stand with The Young Bucks, nailing two more cutters.
The Elite Survive The Fast Paced Offense Of AR Fox & Top Flight To Retain
Swanton Bomb onto Omega would be able to get a two count, Fox knowing to attack the midsection of Omega. Dante & Nick would get tags, with Dante sending NIck to the floor as Matt got the blind tag. Headscissor Takedown would follow, before Dante would be caught in the Locomotion Northern Lights Suplex.
Fox & Darius would try to make the save, but Matt was able to suplex and pin all three men for a near fall. Top Flight would work together on a Tornado DDT, with Nick able to make the save. Red Eye into the 450 Splash followed, with Omega there to make the save. Dragon Suplex took out Fox, before The Meltzer Driver – with Top Flight breaking the pinfall up.
Top Flight were sent to the floor and Nick took them out with the moonsault. Fox avoided the V-Trigger for a near fall, before taking the Doctor Bomb. Omega hit the V-Trigger but One Winged Angel was blocked into the roll up. Fox would keep in the fight with a roll up before Omega blocked for the nail biting victory.
