Ever since The Acclaimed started to rise through the ranks in AEW, they’ve been linked to The Gunns. It was their odd partnership with Austin & Colton Gunn that got them close to Billy Gunn, leading to their rapid rise in popularity. This would cause The Gunns to get jealous, feeling that everything that The Acclaimed has should be theirs – especially the AEW World Tag Team Championships. Tonight, they have the chance to earn those belts – if they can beat The Acclaimed. Unable to promise himself to the corner of The Acclaimed or The Gunns exclusively – Billy Gunn would opt to stay in the back tonight.

The Gunns Always Shine In Their Big Matches

The Gunns would wear attire calling back to Texas wrestling legend Shawn Michaels, hoping to have a Hall of Fame worthy performance here tonight. Meanwhile, The Acclaimed just hit the ring with the AEW World Tag Team Championships proving their skills instantly. Colton Gunn & Max Caster would start this match, with Caster able to hit a big arm drag before tagging in Anthony Bowens.

Some heavy strikes would follow in the corner, before the Scissor Me Timbers landed on Austin Gunn. The Gunns would lure Caster to the apron, where a double team would see Caster land hard on the floor. Colton got some cheap shots in behind the back of the referee, before Caster was rolled into the ring and isolated in the corner of The Gunns.

Colton would hit a big dropkick on Caster, before Austin hit the ring for a double team. The Gunns are wise beyond their years in terms of textbook tag team wrestling, making quick tags and keeping Caster in their corner – but Colton lost control. Bowens got the tag and hit his deadly strikes before the modified Fame Asser for a near fall.

The Acclaimed Lose The AEW World Tag Team Championships

The Acclaimed would hit the ring to double team The Gunns, but had a rare miscue. Bowens would manage to regain control – but Austin would use the referee to avoid a Rolling Elbow. Quick Draw would land, but with the referee down, anything goes. Austin would grab the AEW World Tag Team Championship belt, and Billy Gunn would defend Bowens from his son.

Colton would drop Billy with the belt, before The Acclaimed would hit the ring. Bowens hit The Arrival and Caster the Mic Drop, but the referee was still down. Back in the ring, the referee had a slow time counting – with Bowens kicked into the ropes and a shot from the belt. Austin would get the pinfall, and we have a new AEW World Tag team Champions.

The crowd was stunned, commentary was stunned, The Acclaimed was stunned, and even The Gunns were stunned! However, the decision stands for The Gunns – and they are champions. The Acclaimed will be looking for the rematch before long, and a chance to redeem this crushing loss.
