Orange Cassidy has been dominant as AEW All-Atlantic Champion since winning the belt from PAC in 2022. He’s been making constant defenses, and after his feud with Jay Lethal and pals gave him a few weeks off, he’s ready to get back to defending his belt against anyone who asks. Lee Moriarty of The Firm has stepped up, and tonight looks to prove he’s got more than just potential.
Jack Perry Doesn’t Waste Time Putting Away Ryan Nemeth
Before this match, we’d catch up with ‘Jungle Boy’ Jack Perry. After defeating Page & Matt Hardy in tag team action alongside HOOK, Perry is looking to push beyond dealing with The Firm. He’s in singles action here tonight against “The Hollywood Hunk” himself – Ryan Nemeth.
Nemeth would swing and miss with a lariat, and was sent to the floor with a Shotgun Dropkick. Perry followed him to the floor with a dive, before setting up the crossbody splash in the ring. Nemeth would roll through into a cradle pinfall, before a jumping DDT for a two count.
Perry would hit Sliced Bread No. 2 out of the corner, before the Sliding Elbow smash to the back of the head – getting the victory. This is yet another singles win for Perry in AEW – and Brian Cage would look for a Winter Is Coming rematch next. On that night, Perry would get the win in a phenomenal match – and a rematch won’t be unwelcome.
Orange Cassidy Remains AEW All-Atlantic Champion
Cassidy would get a hammerlock as this match began, before Moriarty would get the Mat Return to thrash Cassidy around to knock the sunglasses off. Moriarty would try some jumping stomps as Cassidy rolled around – before taking a shotgun dropkick. Cassidy would bounce the head of Moriarty off the corner pad – before missing the diving DDT.
Moriarty would kick the arm before a modified European Clutch. Cassidy would take this to the apron looking for Beach Break, but took an STO instead. Moriarty would set up the Hammerlock Armbreaker in the ring, eventually trapping both arms and bridging back for some serious pain – but no verbal submission.
Cassidy would be driven into the corner, before being rolled back into the middle of the ring for another submission attempt. Moriarty would release Cassidy to try and set up a Superplex from the top rope, only to instead take a diving lariat. Michinoku Driver would follow, getting a near fall for Cassidy.
Cassidy was taken from the top rope into an Avalanche Arm Drag – before suffering another armbreaker. Border City Stretch would be attempted – but Cassidy fought it off. Flying DDT would follow, but Orange Punch was blocked into the Pepsi Twist. Cassidy kicked out and hit the Beach Break – before Orange Punch landed.
The work on the arm meant a slow pinfall attempt into the Border City Stretch – with Cassidy countering into a pinfall for the victory. After the bell, Jeff Jarret & Jay Lethal attacked – showing they’re no done with Best Friends yet.
