At Full Gear 2022, Jamie Hayter would defeat Toni Storm to become the AEW Women’s World Champion. Her first title defence would come on the December 12th episode of AEW Dynamite, when she would take on Hikaru Shida. Fans would instantly consider it one of the best matches in the women’s divisions history – and truly sold everyone on Hayter as the top name in the division. With an acclaimed match and mutual respect, Hayter wants another round.
Jamie Hayter Wants To Face Hikaru Shida On Bigger Stage
While speaking with Dark Puroresu Flow, Jamie Hayter would have a chance to reflect on her excellent match with Hikaru Shida – wanting a rematch on an upcoming AEW PPV. Hayter was quoted saying the following.
“I would happily wrestle Shida, she is the real deal. She almost made me believe I might not beat her. But I loved the challenge. I think doing it on a bigger stage at a PPV will make things much more intense and raise the stakes even higher. Having that ‘big match feel’ always escalates the situation and I think she has even more to give. I want the challenge.”
Right now, Hayter is expected to defend her belt against Saraya at AEW Revolution – with a rematch against Toni Storm another potential challenger. Both Saraya & Storm have set their sights on embarrassing the AEW originals – which includes Hayter.
KAIRI Also Wants A Shot At Hayter
Another name from Japan that we could see Hayter face down the line is KAIRI – who currently holds the IWGP Women’s World Championship. KAIRI recently expressed interest in facing Hayter, saying the following in an interview.
“Of course! In fact, I never met her. But I often hear that she was very active in the STARDOM ring. Hello Jamie, I’m KAIRI! I hope you read this,”
KAIRI would make the most sense in the event of a second Forbidden Door event, as she’s directly linked to New Japan Pro Wrestling as well as Stardom. She is best known for her time in WWE as Kairi Sane, where she would win the NXT Women’s Championship.
