The home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in Montecito has been likened to an impenetrable stronghold, with a local expert on the royal family noting that they are the only celebrity inhabitants of the area that are known to bring their security personnel along with them.
Harry And Meghan’s Montecito Home Compared To A Stronghold-‘Looked Like They Had Just Come From The Military, They Had Buzz Cuts, Could Have Been Armed’
Since 2020, the pair have made their residence in a $14.5million (£11million) estate in the wealthy Santa Barbara area, after departing from their official royal duties. It is alleged that their 10-bedroom property is outfitted with a cinema, library, and saunas in an additional guest house.
The couple privately fund their security, a topic which Harry has previously spoken about as being one of the reasons why he does not like to travel to the UK, as security is imperative.
It has been predicted by Forbes that the cost of protecting Harry and Meghan could be between $2 and $3million annually (£1.6 and £2.5million). And yet, those around them do not have the same level of protection.
Royal reporter Richard Mineards had this to say: “There are very important people, very rich people [in Montecito], but no one has security guards with them, except only — from what I’ve seen — Harry and Meghan.
“I don’t know how necessary that is.” Much in the same way, a former local to the area, Lynn, talked about the military-like atmosphere when she came to drop off flowers at the Sussexes’ residence.
In her comments at the time, she remarked: “There were guys there who looked like they had just come from the military. They had buzz cuts. They could have been armed.”
Ultimately, if the Sussexes feel more secure with that security, then who are we to question otherwise. And that is the most important thing. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
