Supporters of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have come to the defense of their Archewell Foundation following inquiries from detractors concerning the organization’s financial situation.
Harry And Meghan Supporters Defend Their Archewell Foundation Amid Scrutiny Over Their Finances
On Sunday, 29th January 2023, the charitable organisation put out its 2020-2022 Impact Report, which included the amount of funding it had gathered since the foundation was established in 2020.
It stated Archewell had raised and donated millions of dollars to philanthropic initiatives. So much so that even royal biographer Omid Scobie came out to confirm just how much the couple had given back.
In a post on Twitter, he said: “In their first year of operation they raised $13m and distributed $3m in grants.”
Even though the organisation was able to quantify its achievements, some skeptics have questioned the whereabouts of the additional $10 million that the foundation accumulated.
This led to claims that the foundation may be being used for other purposes, such as tax incentives, or for personal matters. And this was reflected in the comments that followed.
One person wrote: “They ‘raised’ $13m and gave away $3m. My word, what is the rest going to being used for? Clothing and hotel allowance?” Despite this being the case, the Sussexes did have a lot of people defending the figures.
This was on the basis that the couple did not have to spend the money they had generated all at once. This was a part and parcel of how charities operated in the main.
Another user stated: “It’s people thinking all money raised has to be spent as soon as they get it. I hate that this needed to be explained, like we’re talking to kids, but here we are. This is for those feigning ignorance.”
As long as the Sussexes are making a difference, then that should be enough to satisfy the detractors. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
