Paul Burrell, who served as Princess Diana’s loyal butler, has professed to being wounded by some of the details in Prince Harry’s book, Spare.
Paul Burrell Left ANGERED By Harry’s Scathing Remarks About Him-‘You Knew Me All Your Life’
Burrell had served as a butler for the late Princess of Wales for a decade until her death in a tragic car crash that occurred in 1997.
While that may have been the case, Burrell subsequently went on to publish a book entitled, ‘A Royal Duty in 2000 and The Way We Were: Remembering Diana.’
That did not sit very well with Harry, who felt an element of betrayal in that Burrell was discussing matters of his mother in public, which the Duke of Sussex felt was motivated by money.
In his book, Harry wrote: “Mummy’s former butler had penned a tell-all which actually told nothing. It was merely one man’s self-justifying, self-centering version of events.
“He was milking her disappearance for money. It made my blood boil.” That perception and the manner in which Harry referred to Burrell as a butler was damning. This was on grounds that Burrell has professed to being close to Diana.
Not only that, but the fact that he carried out royal duties for a decade, suggested that Harry was looking down on him, in spite of the fact that Burrell showcased his loyalty during his time as part of the royal staff.
In response to Harry’s comments, Paul remarked: “Well mummy’s butler was called Paul, Harry and you knew me, all your life you’ve known me as Paul.
“He had never known me as ‘the butler’ so why suddenly has there been a shift only recently, a shift to being called the butler?”
The fans on social media made their position clear. A significant proportion of the fan base sided with Burrell, as they felt Harry’s memoir ended up doing more damage.
One person wrote: “I have no good feelings toward Mr. Burrell, but I think Harry did much more damage and was more vindictive in his approach.”
