Prince Harry’s Next Steps Confirmed With Speaking Event For Mental Health Company BetterUp-‘I Want To Live By Example For My Kids’
On Thursday, 26th January 2023, the mental health organisation BetterUp confirmed that the Duke of Sussex would be undertaking a speaking event as part of the company’s coaching on mental health.
This is set to take place on Tuesday, 7th March 20233 and Wednesday, 8th March 2023 in San Francisco, as part of Harry’s role as a Chief Impact Officer for the company.
This is a cause that is close to Harry’s heart since he has spoken of his own mental health struggles. He has admitted going into therapy in order to combat the loss of his mother, Princess Diana, from a young age.
Not only that, but in his memoir Harry addressed numerous things he did to cope with his mother’s death including driving through the Paris tunnel where his mother died, all of which was not healthy.
And ever since that moment, he has spoken on the importance of mental health. Just prior to the release of his memoir, Harry spoke on what drives him.
He said: “A husband and a father — first and foremost — as well as a veteran, environmentalist and mental health advocate. I know that I want to live my life in service of others and that I want to live by example for my kids.”
This event will be the second one that Harry has attended for the company. His first one occurred in October last year during a talk entitled, ‘The Mental Game.’
And as part of that process, the Duke made it clear in no uncertain terms that going through therapy was not something to be ashamed of.
His following comments confirmed as much: “I never, ever, ever thought I would be sitting on this stage saying, ‘Therapy is good.”
