Prince William was allegedly shocked about his brother, Prince Harry’s decision to disclose the circumstances behind his decision to wear a Nazi uniform at a party.
Prince William Was ‘Gobsmacked’ By Harry’s Nazi Uniform Disclosures In His Memoir
In his memoir, Spare, Harry stated that William and Kate Middleton were involved in his decision to wear the uniform. It is alleged that they had ‘howled’ at Harry, as they persuaded him to don the uniform.
Things went awry from there, as a photo was taken of Harry and given to the press. Thereafter, Harry decided to educate himself about the Jewish struggles, as per the Holocaust, having been left embarrassed.
In his book, Harry wrote: “I phoned Willy and Kate, asked what they thought. Nazi uniform. They both howled. Worse than Willy’s leotard outfit! Way more ridiculous! Which, again, was the point.”
Those comments did not sit very well for the following reasons. First of all, it came across as though Harry was showing a lack of remorse for his actions. And given that the Holocaust had reportedly killed 6 million people, this was seen in poor taste.
Secondly, by shifting the blame to someone else, it demonstrated a lack of accountability. And according to one of William’s friends, that left him ‘gobsmacked.’
With that being said, this is what royal expert Daniela Elser had to say: “While Harry and Meghan have both made the Princess out to be a bit of a cold fish who failed to dispense hugs or share lip gloss with appropriate enthusiasm, her involvement in the Nazi uniform escapade is not just unflattering but actually harmful.”
The social media response was damning. This was on the basis that Harry had shown he was unwilling to hold his hand up even though the incident had happened long ago.
One person wrote: “When will H start acting like an adult and start taking responsibility for his OWN actions instead of always playing the blame game.”
