Recently, WWE would make a few key moves in making Sami Zayn one of their top babyfaces once again. After months of being aligned with The Bloodline and called an “Honorary Uce”, Zayn would become the target of the growing paranoia from Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
Following Reigns’ defeat of Zayn’s longtime friend Kevin Owens at the 2023 Royal Rumble – Zayn would have to choose between attacking a handcuffed Owens or turning on Reigns – and chose his past over a brighter future. Now, Zayn is set to main event WWE Elimination Chamber in Montreal, Quebec, Canada against Reigns – and many fans feel this is the perfect chance to bring back Zayn’s old theme song.
Sami Zayn Feels Bringing Back Original Theme Song In Montreal Might Be A Step Back, But Would Undoubtedly Be Cool
While appearing on The Sick Podcast, Sami Zayn would discuss if he wants to bring back his most iconic WWE theme song for his upcoming match with Roman Reigns. Zayn would have the following to say about bringing Worlds Apart back for just one night.
“I mean, if it were going to come back, I feel like that would be the time in place to do it. I’ve said this in other interviews. I feel like it would kind of be taking a step backward. I think maybe a new song is in the cards, but I feel like that song, even though people have a real fondness for it, it seems. From a character’s perspective, it just feels like taking a step backward. At the same time, doing it for like a one-night thing in Montreal might be cool. I don’t know.”
Zayn used Worlds Apart as his theme song from 2014 to 2021, before debuting a new theme song on the October 22nd episode of Smackdown Live. His new theme song has failed to capture fans like Worlds Apart did – and with Elimination Chamber potentially set to be the biggest night of his WWE career, it makes sense to go all in to make him the ultimate fan favorite.
WWE did something similar for Drew McIntyre during Clash At The Castle – using his original theme song of Broken Dreams as a lead in for his current theme song. Zayn could well get similar treatment, but we’ll need to wait until Elimination Chamber to truly know which direction WWE chooses to go.
