For the past year, there have been a few names who have risen to the top of the NXT roster. Bron Breakker is the obvious choice, with him being a two time NXT Champion – with his current reign just reaching 306 days. Grayson Waller meanwhile has taken on the likes of AJ Styles & Apollo Crews, hanging with future Hall of Famers with ease and winning the first ever Iron Survivor Challenge match. When Breakker & Waller finally met in singles action at New Years Evil – the ring ropes broke, costing Waller the match.
Nothing will be left to chance tonight in the rematch, as they’re to be locked in a solid steel cage. Adding to the drama – you can’t win by escape tonight, with a victory only being possible with pinfall or submission as Shawn Michaels wants zero disputes on who the real NXT Champion is. This will give Waller plenty of chances to go viral, but means he needs to deal with the unfiltered and reckless rage of Bron Breakker.
Grayson Waller Tries To Stay One Step Ahead
Waller would kick the cage door into the face of Breakker as he tried to enter, starting this with a brawl to the floor. He’d end up thrown into the barricade, before Breakker swung the cage door into the face of Waller. Both men would be locked into the cage, and Breakker would hit the Steiner Line – hitting the ropes and cage without realising as he picked up some speed.
Breakker would hit the Vertical Suplex before the standing moonsault – with Waller just able to avoid and gain some ground. Waller would press the advantage with some quick strikes, before Breakker was able to drop him with the Steiner Bulldog. Breakker would see Waller lurking between the ropes and cage and rushed in, only for Breakker to miss Waller and get nothing but cage.
Waller would hit some measured punches before whipping him into the steel cage. Breakker would be choked in the corner with a boot to his jaw, before being set up for the crossbody. The second attempt would be caught by Breakker. However, a rake to the eye would lead to Breakker being thrown into the cage twice before the Floating Killswitch for a near fall.
Waller would head to the top rope, only for Breakker to get an adrenaline rush – getting up top for the Frankensteiner. Another Steiner Bulldog attempt was blocked with the rising knee before the Springboard Elbow Drop – only getting Waller a two count. Breakker would have his arms tied up in the ropes, before taking some punches and a dropkick from Waller.
Bron Breakker Proves It’s Still His NXT
Waller would waste time taunting, before hitting a spear. This would lead to Breakker getting angry, and he’d free himself from the ropes. Breakker would whip Waller into the cage twice, before lifting him into the Press Slam and tossing Waller against the steel a third time. Waller would leap over a spear and hit a low blow before the Rolling Stunner for a near fall.
Breakker would be down in the middle of the ring, and Waller would look to climb the cage. He wants the viral moment – maybe more than the championship. Waller reached the top as Breakker his his feet, and would end up being brought down with a Superplex instead. Breakker would nail the spear, and had Waller dead to rights.
He’d ask if Waller wants to talk trash now that he’s finally in Breakkers NXT. One more huge spear would nearly send Waller through the cage – and this match was over. Bron Breakker remains NXT Champion – ready to carry the belt into Stand & Deliver. After the match, Carmelo Hayes would hit the ring – calling for the next shot.
