During her interview with Daily Mail, Charlotte Flair touched on topics in WWE and the wrestling world. After all, it’s the best time to get something of note in the lead up to WrestleMania. The discussion turned to fellow Four Horsemen and former multiple-time WWE Women’s champion and current IWGP Women’s champ Mercedes Moné and Charlotte Flair had something to say about her.
Charlotte Flair Says That Mercedes Moné Leaving WWE for Japan Was “Inspiring”
Towards the end of her WWE run, Mercedes Moné was the WWE Women’s Tag Team champions with Naomi. When she left the WWE, it was into a wrestling world that was similar to the one Cody Rhodes entered in 2016—one with career possibilities. She could find a new home promotion easily.
Of course, it helped that New Japan established the IWGP Women’s title just months earlier. On her former roster mate’s adventures out of the company Charlotte Flair said:
“I think it’s cool whenever someone follows their heart, and that’s inspiring. There will never be another group like the Four Horsewomen, ever.”
Flair’s statements came from the same interview where she expressed interest in working with her husband Andrade El Idolo—currently in AEW. Combined, her statements have seen a little speculation that Charlotte could have her eyes beyond WWE. On one hand, her family in the industry is outside of the WWE. On the other hand, WWE provides consistency and career security for a superstar at her level—granted they don’t go shaking the boat.
Honestly, a Flair-Moné banger over the IWGP Women’s title would whip fans into a frenzy but do you see the seven-time Women’s champion leaving WWE any time soon? Also, what do you think of Mercedes Moné outside of the WWE?
