The WWE would love nothing more than to land another EVP from AEW, and there are rumors going around that Roman Reigns’ blistering Cody Rhodes for not getting over in AEW could entice Kenny Omega to come to the WWE.
This isn’t surprising given the recent news that the WWE is open to bringing Omega in and Omega reportedly has an open mind about going to the WWE.
But like with anything, they’re little more than rumors at this point, but there is definitely potential there since Cody’s been fast tracked with main eventing WrestleMania.
Collecting AEW EVPs
From the second WWE signed Cody, it was widely believed he was signed mainly because he was a former EVP of AEW and it was a great jab at AEW and Tony Kahn by Vince McMahon.
It makes sense, and so does signing other former EVPs to the company to show they’re where talent wants to be. In the end, it’s all about the optics.
The difference here is there were reports by Wade Keller at PWTorch that Omega isn’t viewed as a main event talent for WrestleMania like Cody so he probably wouldn’t get the same push.
Having Dusty Rhodes as a father may have played a huge role in the decision for Cody’s major push as the storyline was basically already written and just needed to be tweaked.
That seems farfetched given the generational talent Omega is and that should put him above Cody. But there isn’t a story as perfect as Cody trying to fulfill his father’s dream. Omega coming to the WWE would set up another great feud
Facing Cody and Rollins
The WWE bringing in Omega would immediately set up a rivalry with Cody as Omega would seek to prove he’s the better wrestler and champion, and it’d be fun to watch.
Ultimately, we expect Cody to win since he’s WWE’s golden boy for the moment, but afterwards it’d set up a great feud between Omega and Seth Rollins for another shot at the title.
Cody entered the WWE in a feud with Rollins, and Rollins has targeted Kenny Omega a couple of times on social media, so that’s an easy enough feud to sell.
With Rollins arguably being the best in the WWE, it’s almost criminal that he’s not in the world title picture more and has been used mainly to put over new or younger stars.
A feud with Omega and then another possible one with Cody would be a great way to get the fans on the edge of our seats and set up another title run.
