Jay White was one of the hottest stars in NJPW if not the world, and now that it looks like he’s leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling, there are plenty of rumors as to where he could go.
While Impact Wrestling is always an option as he’s had a good working relationship with them recently, the frontrunners are believed to be AEW and WWE.
Both have more money and reach than Impact Wrestling, so it makes sense that they’re the rumored landing places to further expand White’s career.
However, any plans White may have to go to the WWE may have been put on the back burner if recent reports are any indication.

Kenny Omega’s the early favorite
Whether it’s bad timing or bad luck, it’s been reported by Wrestling Observer that another big name free agent has garnered WWE’s interest, and that’s rumored to be Kenny Omega.
This makes sense since he’d be the second former AEW EVP the company could sign following Cody Rhodes, and it’d be another feather in Vince McMahon’s cap despite him only “advising” decisions.
It’ll also give the WWE a chance to build on fans’ dream match of Kenny Omega and Seth Rollins. We can get behind this idea and expect their feud to run circles around Rollins’ recent feud with Cody.
Wrestlingnews.co says they were told that Omega’s AEW contract is either expired or expiring soon.
They also reported that Fightful Select has said Tony Kahn reportedly stated time could be added to Omega’s contract due to his time off with injuries. But Omega has good legal representation so it’s not a done deal.
If these reports end up being true, then it’ll spark a fun debate between fans over who is better between Omega and White and those are always fun.
And if the WWE’s focus is on Omega, it’ll give others a better shot at landing White.
Making it work
We have no doubt White will take full advantage of this by either hyping up a feud between he and Omega to show the WWE what could be, or he may focus on his other alternatives like AEW and Impact Wrestling.
It’ll be fun to see what happens with both wrestlers and where they’ll go, but it won’t surprise us if the WWE signs both of them.
Omega is nearing the end of his run and contemplated retiring when he was dealing with a slew of injuries while being a triple champion, and White still has a lot in his tank as far as in ring appearances go.
