According to a source from the White House, Joe Biden, the President of the United States, will not be present at King Charles III’s coronation ceremony.
Joe Biden Will Not Attend King Charles III’s Coronation
The royal ceremony of the King’s coronation is set to take place on Saturday, 6th May 2023. It is anticipated to have the presence of other heads from around the world.
Dignitaries from politics and religion, as well as famous people, are regularly invited to the enthronement of the sovereign. However, it appears that Biden will not be amongst the leaders in attendance this year.
In an official statement on behalf of the president, a representative said the following: “That does not feel like an event Joe Biden will attend.” This will be a blow for the following seasons.
First of all, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, President Biden referred to her as a ‘great lady.’ Therefore, this shows that the president does hold the firm in high standing.
After all, he was among numerous other foreign dignitaries who attended her memorial service at Westminster Abbey. Secondly, other high-profile figures have reportedly turned down the coronation too.
Reports indicate that musicians Ed Sheeran and Adele have been invited but have turned down the opportunity due other commitments. The response on social media was mixed.
A certain subset of people were of the view that Biden’s absence would have a negative impact on the coronation since he was a major player on the world stage.
Meanwhile, others mocked the president on the basis that his attendance could have been characterized by a public gaffe. And by the looks of it, the comments were very brutal indeed.
One person wrote: “Perhaps his incontinence pad would not last long enough?” With the coronation almost here, the preparations need to be on point. So, who else will attend?
So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
