Recently, we would see the Road to WrestleMania for Kofi Kingston come to an early end. Just before a Fatal Five Way match to earn a shot at WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER at WrestleMania 39 – Kingston would suffer an ankle injury.
This came during a brawl with Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, LA Knight, and Karrion Kross. Xavier Woods would take his place, but was ultimately unsuccessful in the match. Now, Kingston is on another road now – the road to recovery following a successful surgery.
Kofi Kingston Is On The Road To Recovery
Taking to Instagram, Kingston would say that surgery went well – and that he’s on the path to recovery. Kingston had the following to say.
Surgery went very well! Of course I had to FaceTime the boyzzz upon regaining consciousness…Very little recollection of the conversation, lol.
Thanks to everybody who sent me a message! I appreciate it more than you know! I’m home now. Let the road to recovery begin!
Following his surgery, New Day member Big E claimed that post-surgery Kofi is in his top 5 funniest comedians dead or alive, giving a vague idea of the post-injury conversation that was had.
The New Day Could Be The Best Choice For WrestleMania 39 Red Carpet Hosts
When it comes to when we can expect Kingston to return to the ring – that remains unclear. Typical recovery time for a broken ankle is 6 to 8 months.
Kingston will miss WrestleMania, with a chance of some New Day Red Carpet shenanigans. Their combined charisma would make them the perfect pick for a Red Carpet for a WrestleMania in Hollywood.
It also allows both Kingston & Big E to be involved despite their current injuries. We know that Kingston will return to the ring – while the in-ring return of Big E remains very unclear following his 2022 broken neck.
Xavier Woods will remain in the ring, and is seeking to win his first singles championship in WWE in 2023.
