KofiMania was a thing throughout most of 2019 after Kofi Kingston defeated Bryan Danielson for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35. The victory actually gave Kofi a few milestones in his career including Grand Slam and Triple Crown honors. One person who is a big Kingston booster was his opponent in that match: Bryan Danielson.
Bryan Danielson Says That WrestleMania 35 Bout Against Kofi Kingston Was His Favorite WWE Match – Was Demoralized When It Ended in Seconds to Brock Lesnar
Speaking with The Ringer, Danielson discussed losing to Kingston and how he feels about him as a wrestler in person. He would go into the end of Kofi’s reign.
“To me, the whole thing was magic. And you look at the live events, like the number of shows that he did for WWE, the amount of TV time that he filled in every time, going out there and always having a positive attitude and all that kind of stuff. What a great human being, you know what I mean? Like I said, it was my favorite match.”
As we know, Kofi Kingston went on to hold the title into October 2019 while Bryan Danielson turned face aiding Roman Reigns in his battle against Rowan and Harper. The person to defeat the New Day member was Brock Lesnar, who had returned to SmackDown after losing the Universal title to Seth Rollins that August.
On that note, Danielson linked the ending of KofiMania as the most demoralized he was because of the eighth-second title loss. “I think the whole thing was my favorite part of my WWE career,” Danielson told The Ringer. “And conversely, the most demoralized I ever was, was seeing him lose it to Brock Lesnar the way that he did.”
