Brian Cox, an actor, asserts that Meghan Markle was aware of the consequences of her decision to marry into the Royal Family.
Meghan Markle Knew What She Was Getting Into Before She Married Harry-Says Brian Cox
The 76-year-old actor expressed disapproval towards the Duchess of Sussex for joining the royal family with the belief that she and Prince Harry could separate themselves from the existing structure.
In an interview with Haute Living New York, Cox claimed that Meghan had aspirations of becoming a part of the royal family and suggested that she might have envisioned marrying a Prince for a long time.
During a discussion of Megxit controversies, it was suggested that despite the perception of innocence associated with the Sussexes, Meghan was well aware of her involvement in a deeply rooted system.
He said: “You can’t go into a system where somebody’s already been trained to behave in a certain kind of way and then just expect them to cut themselves off.
“I mean, she knew what she was getting into. The childhood dreams of marrying Prince Charming and all that s**t we see as fantasy.”
The actor, who has previously advocated for the elimination of the monarchy, restated that the customary institution is impractical and lacks logical reasoning.
In 2020, the actor expressed his desire to abolish the monarchy after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex resigned from their royal duties.
He shared with ES Magazine that the monarchy, including all its members, should be abandoned once Queen Elizabeth II had passed away. He contended that the Queen was an extraordinary individual, and her accomplishments were remarkable.
However, he maintained that it is necessary to terminate the monarchy’s archaic control over our society and framework. He added: “In my opinion, we shouldn’t have a monarchy.
“It’s not viable; it doesn’t make any sense. [The firm’s] tradition,’ his thoughts are ‘f**k it, move on.” The response on social media was much the same.
A certain subset of people were of the view that the Duchess of Sussex had used the firm in order to generate publicity and clout for her career. And once that was done, there was no longer any use for the firm.
One person wrote: “It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out that she’s not as naive as she claims. She clearly planned all this from day one. So he’s right about Markle. He’s wrong about republicanism, though.”
