When you’re building a professional wrestling companies roster, it’s easy to focus on bringing in as many current stars as possible. However, it can be just as important to consistently invest in the future of the company – which is just what AEW has been doing lately.
They’ve been bringing in many young rising stars for shows like AEW Dark, and some like Dante & Darius Martin have found full contracts. Another rising star that finds herself as part of the AEW roster is 18 year old Billie Starkz.
AEW Signs Billie Starkz To Contract
Starkz recently made her debut for AEW, challenging TBS Champion Jade Cargill on the recent AEW Battle Of The Belts VI event. She would give Cargill more trouble than expected – and won a lot of fans over in the process.
Tony Schiavone would reveal that she’s been signed to a contract. While speaking about 17 year old Nick Wayne’s impending debut on the What Happened When podcast, Schiavone would mention the following.
“Speaking of 18-year-olds, we just signed another 18-year-old. Billie Starkz, the girl that wrestled Jade.”
A Long Term Investment And Potential Top Champion
Considering how good Starkz already is after working on the indies since 2018, the idea of her being placed into the AEW Women’s division is exciting. She’s someone known for rapid improvements in the ring, and with more ring time – could well be a future champion for the company.
Starkz is a long term investment for sure. Looking at someone like Skye Blue, who was brought into AEW in 2021 at just 20, you can see a path that Starkz could take over the next few years.
Blue would slowly work her way into bigger matches, and is now at the forefront of one of the biggest angles in the divisions history – standing with the AEW Originals against The Outcasts (Saraya, Toni Storm & Ruby Soho).
