Back at All Out 2022, the show seemingly went off without a hitch – only for things to go off the rails during the post show press conference. CM Punk was fresh off winning his second AEW World Championship – and took aim at The Elite, who held EVP roles within AEW.
This would result in a backstage brawl that derailed TV plans due to wide suspensions to Punk, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and more. Things have had a chance to settle since then – and CM Punk could be on his way back to TV soon.
AEW Working To Bring CM Punk Back To TV
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful would report the following about the potential return of CM Punk to AEW television. Punk is also keen on working with Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks – but the feeling might not be mutual.
“Those that we’ve spoken to confirmed that CM Punk has been hoping to work with Kenny Omega and Young Bucks, but we’ve heard of no contact between the two sides. The last we’d heard, The Elite were not keen on the possibility of working with him. AEW sources indicated that Punk had been trying to push for a meeting between everyone for quite a while, but we haven’t heard if any progress had been made. It’s worth noting that Young Bucks and Kenny Omega are in the middle of negotiating new contracts with AEW.”
AEW’s Biggest Money Match Is Punk & The Elite
We would recently see Dax Harwood of FTR pitch a match involving them and CM Punk taking on The Elite at Wembley Stadium – a show coming this August as their UK debut.
This is without a doubt a big money match for AEW, and one that Tony Khan would be wise to push. The Brawl Out incident was a stain on AEW’s reputation, but if Khan is able to turn it into a way to push tickets – it would atleast end up being productive in the end.
