Since arriving on the WWE main roster, it’s been hard to deny that GUNTHER is one of the best in the world. His reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion has seen him take down all challengers, including Sheamus in a duo of hard hitting matches. Tonight, Sheamus gets another chance to become champion, with his ally and occasional rival Drew McIntyre also in the mix.
These are three of the heaviest hitters in WWE today, meaning anything could happen. GUNTHER doesn’t have to be pinned to lose the belt – making this his most challenging defence to date.
It was McIntyre calling his shot, despite knowing how much winning that belt means to Sheamus – putting the Banger Bros at odds in time for WrestleMania.
Three Men Enter To Bring Prestige Back To The WWE Intercontinental Championship
To start the match, GUNTHER tried to make McIntyre & Sheamus fight – instead taking a Claymore before McIntyre & Sheamus brawled it out in the middle of the ring.
Sheamus would beat McIntyre into the corner with some heavy uppercuts, and McIntyre fired back with some chops. GUNTHER would hit the ring, and dropped both Sheamus & McIntyre with one chop each.
McIntyre was whipped into the ring post, as Sheamus used the ropes to pull himself up – and took a boot to the jaw.
GUNTHER would redden the chest of Sheamus with a series of chops, before setting up a Boston Crab in the center of the ring. McIntyre would rush the ring and kick GUNTHER in the face, which just served to piss the champion off.
GUNTHER would trade chops with McIntyre, who was able to hold his own – and drove McIntyre into the corner as the crowd went nuts.
Sheamus would come into the exchange with some tight uppercuts, and it just turned into a three way brawl. McIntyre & Sheamus would batter each other trying to get to GUNTHER – only for GUNTHER to lay them both out with ease.
McIntyre & Sheamus would set up GUNTHER for Ten Beats Of The Bohrand, taking him out briefly – allowing Sheamus to pummelled McIntyre with twenty five clubbing blows to the chest.
Sheamus would get a standing ovation, and looked to end things with the Celtic Cross. GUNTHER stopped this with a boot to the face, German Suplex and huge lariat for a near fall.
GUNTHER, Sheamus & Drew McIntyre Tear The House Down
A stiff second lariat would follow, before McIntyre came off the top rope with a lariat. Neckbreaker would follow on GUNTHER, who rolled into the corner – and had Sheamus thrown at him. Future Shock DDT would land, but Claymore was avoided as GUNTHER managed a powerbomb for the near fall.
GUNTHER would make his way to the top rope, but Sheamus took him down and hit the Celtic Cross.
The dream of becoming the Intercontinental Champion was three seconds away, but GUNTHER would deny him. Cloverleaf would be applied, and Sheamus would be caught from behind with a sleeper hold from McIntyre.
Sheamus would break free, and took McIntyre down with a knee strike. The fans would rally behind Sheamus as he set up the Brogue Kick – and GUNTHER took all of it.
GUNTHER was down, but McIntyre pulled Sheamus from the ring – preventing the three count. McIntyre would soar over the top rope onto Sheamus, and looked to end this with the Claymore in the ring.
Instead, Sheamus was able to nail the Brogue Kick – somehow only getting a near fall. McIntyre would find his feet and nailed Sheamus in the side of the head with the Claymore – but was unable to score the three count.
Sheamus & McIntyre traded blows in the middle of the ring – all while GUNTHER recovered at ringside.
Another Brogue Kick landed, and Sheamus crawled onto the pinfall as GUNTHER soared in with a splash. Sheamus was powerbombed into McIntyre, before a powerbomb to McIntyre would keep the belt on The Ring General.
There is no shame in losing a match like that, especially not to GUNTHER. Who can end the reign of The Ring General? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
