Last night, fans of AEW once again got to see a high risk match between Kenny Omega & Jon Moxley. Rivals since the very first show in the history of All Elite Wrestling, these are two men who tend to push each other to new levels with each encounter.
Their latest encounter involved a steel cage, allowing for some serious violence on both sides. In the end, Jon Moxley claimed the victory after a shocking betrayal, as Don Callis stabbed longtime ally Kenny Omega in the back. This was just the start of a bigger storyline, claims Moxley.
This Was Only The Beginning, Claims Jon Moxley
While speaking with Sports Illustrated following their steel cage match, Moxley would be asked about Omega. Moxley had the following to say about their rivalry.
“It’s not going to end here. This was only the beginning. We’re bringing our A-game. We’re competitive with each other, and we’re competitive with the rest of the wrestling industry. There’s a lot on the line, so no one is taking a step backward. We’re showing why we’re the superior group.”
The Elite vs. Blackpool Combat Club Features The Best Professional Wrestlers On The Planet
Delving deeper into the issues between The Elite & Blackpool Combat Club factions, Moxley had the following to say.
“This rivalry between us is the cutting edge of the business. You might be more into something else, but look at who is involved here. Kenny Omega may be the greatest wrestler that ever lived. Bryan Danielson may be the greatest wrestler that ever lived. Claudio Castagnoli may be the most absolute alien pretending to be a human Superman f—ing freak wrestler to ever live. The Young Bucks may be the greatest tag team of all time. Even if you think I f—ing suck, you still have all these greats.”
Everything right now is pointing towards The Elite & Blackpool Combat Club in the next Blood & Guts match – AEW’s version of the classic WarGames match. Blackpool Combat Club entered the match last year, battling the Jericho Appreciation Society.
