Yesterday was one of the biggest days in the history of All Elite Wrestling. We would get the long awaited announcement of their next weekly show, titled AEW Saturday Night Collision. Bringing a weekly show to Saturday nights is something wrestling fans have been wanting for years, and now AEW is granting that wish.

However, despite having a strong roster – a new show will need a star in the spotlight as it gets off the ground. Thankfully, AEW has that strong star – and he’s finally ready to get back into the ring.

CM Punk Is Ready For His Second Coming In AEW

Since September 2022, CM Punk has been waiting for his moment to return to the ring. A combination of a torn tricep during his match against Jon Moxley and a backstage brawl with The Elite leading to a suspension removed Punk from TV.

He’s been rehabbing the injury ever since, and is back in ring shape. We’ve known about plans to bring Punk back to TV, and AEW is set to make Collision his show.

It remains unclear if there is going to be a hard brand split between Dynamite & Collision, or if talent will simply be moved between schedules as needed.

Some in AEW like Britt Baker have fashioned their schedules around Wednesday nights and outside jobs, where she runs her dental practice on non-AEW days. This is something that will become very clear in time, with a draft very likely if we do get a hard brand split instead of just simple touring crews that can change as needed.

Poster For AEW Saturday Night Collision Features More Returing Top Names Like Thunder Rosa & Miro

Right now, we know the likes of Thunder Rosa, Powerhouse Hobbs, Samoa Joe, Andrade El Idolo & Miro were seen on the poster alongside the champions of AEW.

This puts them as very likely top names on the brand alongside the coming reveal of CM Punk. With the debut episode set to be announced for Punk’s hometown of Chicago next week on AEW Dynamite, it will be a poorly kept secret at best going forward.

Giving Punk his own show away from the storyline of The Elite is a solution to preventing future fights backstage. Andrade is also someone who had a backstage fight with Sammy Guevara, potentially being another case of keeping talent separated with these new shows.

Do you think using two shows to split talent with issues is a good idea on the part of Tony Khan? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
