SheWhen Becky Lynch won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships alongside Lita, this irked Trish Stratus. Being perhaps the biggest name of her era of WWE, Stratus felt overlooked by Lynch, perhaps even disrespected.
At WrestleMania 39, she was victorious alongside Lita & Lynch, but quickly showed her true colours as she injured Lita, costed them their championships, and tried to injury Lynch. Now tonight, she will face Lynch one on one – in a generational dream match.
Trish Stratus Is A Few Steps Ahead Of Becky Lynch
Lynch would quickly strike down Stratus, with Stratus rolling to the floor. Stratus would avoid a baseball slide, and shoved into the ring steps before slamming her face first off the announce desks. Stratus hit a punt kick to the ribs, before choking Lynch on the ropes.
would sit on the top rope and get a sleeper hold applied, dangling Lynch off the mat before hitting a Tornado DDT for a two count. Lynch would be stomped into the corner, and Stratus would ask the crowd to thank her. Stratus would apply the Camel Clutch, before fishhooking the mouth.
Lynch was shoved off the ropes and hit with a neckbreaker, getting Stratus a two count. Stratus would take a counter attack from Lynch with the Bexploder, before some rabid strikes in the ropes – and the Dublin Air leg drop to the neck for a two count. Lynch would hit a baseball slide as Stratus went to the floor, and came off the apron with a single axe handle.
Stratus would use her athletic ability to catch Lynch with her legs – and threw Lynch face first into the ring post. A frankensteiner in the corner would drop Lynch for a two count, before Stratus would take the Diamond Dust and a diving leg drop. Status would be put in a Boston Crab, but was able to send Lynch to the floor – and hit a kick to try for a count out win.
Lynch made it back in at 8, only to take a Chick Kick for a near fall. Disarmher would be applied to Stratus, who pulled Lynch’s hair to get free. Manhandle Slam would land – but Stratus got her foot on the bottom rope. Zoey Stark came from under the ring and hit Z360 – allowing Stratus to win.
Gunther Looks To Continue Historic Reign
For the past 351 days, Gunther has been a force to be reckoned with as the WWE Intercontinental Champion. Bringing glory back to the championship with hard hitting title defences, The Ring General has taken down the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura, Sheamus & Braun Strowman.
Tonight, he stares down Mustafa Ali – who is looking to claim his first championship in WWE. Ali used his high ring IQ to earn this shot by winning a Battle Royale, and will need a perfect game plan tonight to overcome the champion.
Gunther would throw Ali across the ring as this match began, before missing a chop in the corner. Ali would use his speed to chop away at the leg of Gunther, before blocking a Sleeper Hold and hitting a series of dropkicks. Gunther would catch Ali with a powerslam, before hitting two of his trademark chops.
Boston Crab would be applied in the middle of the ring – with Gunther switching to an STF midway through. Ali would break free and head to the apron, where Gunther ran him down with a big boot – and then threw him head first into the ring post.
And Still WWE Intercontinental Champion
Back in the ring, Ali would manage a neckbreaker on Gunther – and went to the top rope. Gunther caught him up top with a chop, before looking for an Avalanche Butterfly Suplex. Ali would counter, and hit a powerbomb – dropping Gunther for the 450 Splash, but only getting a near fall for his efforts.
Ali would try for a tornado DDT, but Gunther would counter and hit two massive lariats. Gunther would ask Ali to stand and fight, before telling him he doesn’t belong. A powerbomb from Gunther was blocked – and Ali hit the Tornado DDT. 450 Splash would miss on the second attempt. Shotgun dropkick and powerbomb followed, and Gunther continues his reign as champion.
