Hearing Jeff Hardy’s name and taking a hiatus brings up all sorts of memories and things from the past, but this time it’s not a negative thing.
It’s been reported that his hiatus has more to do with AEW’s touring schedule and Jeff’s past than it does his current situation.
It looks like he’s not going to travel with AEW to do a series of shows in Canada. According to Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful Select, Jeff’s not allowed in Canada due to his recent legal issues.
To list a few, this week’s AEW Rampage and Collision are in Hamilton, the Forbidden Door is in Toronto on Sunday, and so on as AEW will tour Canada until sometime in July.
Once that schedule of done and they’re back in the US we can expect to see Jeff return to AEW television. With any luck, he’ll be able to work off the ring rust that’s been plaguing him since his return.
Is Jeff a viable star anymore?
There’s no denying Jeff is a fan favorite and he’s earned all sorts of accolades over the years as well as bouncing back after his stumbles, but does he have enough left in the tank for another top run?
After his return to AEW following his last incident and rehab, Jeff cut a promo where he talked about how he’s trying to love himself again and how he wants to retire from screwing up. He wants to end his career on a high note in AEW and that’s a good thing.
Alcoholism is like any addiction; it’s always with a person and it’s a daily struggle to stay sober. When someone does stumble, society is often quick to write them off or look down on them.
Hopefully, he’ll be able to turn his live around and avoid any more of those situations.
While retiring on a high instead of a low means living his best life, it probably also means another title run could be in the cards.
Since his arrival in AEW there has been talk about him and Matt Hardy winning the AEW Tag Team Championship with the brothers mentioning it as a final feather in their cap to end their careers on a good run.
Whether or not Tony Kahn makes it happen has yet to be seen, but it would be something really cool for the fans to see and for Matt and Jeff to achieve one final time.
