Who would you consider the strongest wrestler AEW commentator Paul Wight faced in the ring? Wight himself gave the nod to multiple-time World Champion John Cena but WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry disagreed. It’s to be expected whenever someone is named as the best anything: someone will have objections.
WWE Hall of Famer and AEW Interviewer Mark Henry Disagrees with John Cena Being Paul Wight’s Strongest Opponent Ever
Mark Henry is known as the “World’s Strongest Man” for a reason having established several records and winning medals for his feats and it victories. He would also represent the U.S in the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games.
A former collegiate basketball player, Paul Wight was once touted as the WWE’s largest athlete. Both men are from that pre-early Monday Night Wars period and it was a collision that WWE would definitely explore down the line as Mark Henry was a barn-sized man himself.
While speaking with Chris Van Vilet on his Insight podcast, Mark Henry believed that he was the strongest opponent Paul Wight—the former Big Show—wrestled. He told Van Vilet:
“And I gave him the business about it too. How are you gonna say John Cena is stronger than me? Because he’s, he’s, he’s more over than me? But if it came to strength for strength, like there’s nobody else on the planet that compares to the things that I’ve done.” (h/t: Sportskeeda)
I won’t lie to you, readers: I’m Impressed when the guy bends anything with his bare hands like a late-19th-century carnival strongman. Sometimes he’d do the trick on non-WWE programming at a time when more interesting feats of strength were needed on TV.
The Master Lock Challenge and the power of Chris Masters’–now Chris Adonis–grip is impressive. However, it’s not bending a frying pan or tearing a phone book. Henry has a claim to being stronger than John Cena. Of course, this doesn’t discount the strength of John Cena–who also clashed with Mark Henry.
What do you think? Is Mark Henry Paul Wight’s strongest opponent? Does the honor belong to John Cena? Hell, have you seen stronger opponents for Paul Wight?
