Last night, Carmelo Hayes would get the spotlight on Monday Night RAW. The reigning NXT Champion, and a former NXT North American Champion – Hayes is a fast rising star in WWE.
He was humbled slightly, as he was shut down by perhaps the greatest NXT Champion of all time in Finn Balor – but win or lose, Hayes path in WWE remains the same.
Win Or Loss, I’m Still Him
In an online exclusive video interview – Carmelo Hayes would speak on his loss to Balor.
“I mean, shoot, I can’t take away from Finn Balor, Judgment Day. Finn is one of the best in the world. If I gotta take a loss to one of the best in the world, I can accept that. But listen, the important thing is tomorrow night against Baron Corbin for the NXT Championship. I’m not 100%, but I believe I can beat Baron at 75%, at 50%, at 25%. I know he’s gonna put up a great fight, but I’m ready, man. I might have taken a loss, but I look in the mirror and I’m still Carmelo Hayes, so that’s a W.”
He’d follow up with a tweet – stating the following.
“Debuted on WWE Raw . Gotta let it sink in… Dream come true. Win or loss, still HIM.”
Carmelo Hayes & Bron Breakker Are Sure Fire Main Event Stars
When it comes to sure fire stars in NXT right now, you don’t need to look further than Bron Breakker & Carmelo Hayes. Since making their debuts, it was clear that they were being groomed as future top names, and both have lived up to their potential. Hayes came in with a solid indy resume, but has risen to new heights since arriving in WWE.
It’s no surprise that both Hayes & Breakker are rubbing elbows with some main event names, with Breakker having recently shared the ring with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. They are the future, and the future could be much closer than anyone could have imagined.
