There is little doubt that 2023 has been the biggest year in the history of All Elite Wrestling. They have already launched their first major console video game to positive results, launched another live weekly show in AEW Collision, and are closing in on one of the biggest professional wrestling shows in recent memory.
When it was announced that they were bringing back AEW All In for their UK debut, and it would be inside the iconic Wembley Stadium – more eyes landed on AEW. Now, before a single match or segment is announced it’s already passed an 9 million dollar (USD) gate.
Tony Khan Confirms 70,000 Tickets Sold
During an interview, Tony Khan would give the following update about AEW All In – noting the tickets sold, and how much money has already been generated by the event.
“It’s about 70,000 tickets sold for about $9 million US in ticket sales for that one show in London at Wembley Stadium. It’s going to be a massive event. We are opening more seats up for that.”
Meanwhile, on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer had the following to say about All In – and how it could break records soon.
“This would make it the seventh largest verified attendance in pro wrestling history. If they can move 6,000 more tickets they will break the all-time attendance record for a paid show which is 80,709 for the 2016 WrestleMania. The paid record of 79,800 for that show is not impossible but it looks difficult. They look to almost surely be able to top the 78,000 at WrestleMania III.”
AEW Has Not Started The Build To All In Yet
When it comes to potential matches for this show – things remain unclear. AEW has a tendency to start the build to a PPV four weeks ahead, knowing that TV is their main priority. The focus right now is around Blood & Guts – which will see The Elite battle Blackpool Combat Club.
However, one potential match is MJF & Adam Cole vs. FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Championships. With All Out set to take place shortly after All In, and MJF vs. Adam Cole II being set for the main event there?
This match would make sense. MJF & Cole are in the Blind Draw Eliminator tournament, having won their first round match and are set to face Big Bill & Brian Cage on Wednesday.
We can also expect Sting & Chris Jericho in major roles on the event, though the dream match between them has already come and gone over the past month.
