Bray Wyatt is a superstar that The Undertaker is big on. He wants to see Bray succeed and thrive in the WWE and he sees—like many—that the former World champion is having a hard time getting into the swing of things.
The Undertaker Believes Bray Wyatt Needs to Go Old School to Get Back on Track in WWE
Bray Wyatt has been an odd case in that he was gone for a year and made no appearances elsewhere. When he returned it should’ve been as if he never left. Think of it as a superstar returning from injury and being plugged back in.
However, he hasn’t been able to continue the race after his program with LA Knight. This has led to speculation that he was being avoided because his The Fiend gimmick doesn’t real gel with the current product’s direction. There is also this turn towards Wyatt where you had fans who were stoked to see him back but there also those who pegged Bray Wyatt as a momentum vacuum.
Of course, LA Knight seems to be an exception to this as his stocks have been on the raise while we’re still waiting for him and Bobby Lashley to return to television. More fuel came to those speculative fires when the Lashley-Bray match for WrestleMania 39 was scuttled.
So, yes, Bray needs to be in the mix to get back on track and the Hall of Famer believes his swamp cult leader is the key to his success. As a matter of fact, he said that version of Bray Wyatt was “the money.” The Undertaker explained to Metro:
“They need to back Bray’s character up to the original character, get away from—they’ve kind of got themselves booked into a situation where it’s kind of difficult for him to have matches.”
Taker feels that WWE has to figure out how to use him and scaling things back could be the key. Think of it in terms of The Undertaker himself: the early days of the Deadman saw him as hard to defeat but opponents could get a match out of him. Unfortunately, he was fed lower-tier opponents and monsters which only increased his invincibility and made it so that WWE needed better opponents who fans felt could put him in danger.
The Undertaker character was humanized, he was just a bruiser and that continued with his Big Evil and Deadman eras where he became more vulnerable with age and injury. Of course, WWE wasted its retcon tokens on expanding the Taker-Kane lore and never explained what happens to his powers at different times—but WWE actually worked with the character.
Do you agree with The Undertaker and stage one of Bray Wyatt is the best bet? Or should WWE just figure out how to make The Fiend work in an environment where there are more personalities than gimmicks? Let us know down below.
