Wrestling insiders aren’t optimistic about the Bray Wyatt versus Bobby Lashley match making it to WrestleMania 39 at all, folks. The storyline, which was revealed to be a change of plans following Elimination Chamber 2023, saw Lashley plugged in to face the recently-returned superstar while Brock Lesnar—the expected winner of the Lesnar-Lashley match—will go on to face Omos.
Is the Bray Wyatt-Bobby Lashley Match for WrestleMania 39 Deader Than Katie Vick – Most Wrestling Insiders Say “Yes”
The reason why fans and those in the industry believe that this match probably won’t even make the show is because so little has been invested into the storyline itself. As it stands, it has enough build to be on pre-show at best despite having talent that should be on the main card.
Bray Wyatt had to pull out of televised events for the most part because of an undisclosed, unfortunately timed health issue. While there have been sparse videos to nudge this story along for WrestleMania 39, there’s only so much Lashley can do as he’s fit enough to get this thing moving.
It should be noted that there have been no updates on Bray’s condition clearing up to where he could perform on WM39.
Also, it’s too late to substitute someone more active for Bobby Lashley to face at this point. WWE could pull “main boss throws a goon out” at some other PLE but this is WrestleMania where everyone is expected to show up for their build-up and their matches.
From Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer to WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, the consensus is that this storyline is cooked to the point of just not happening. Hell, Booker T believes that the match would benefit no one if it did happen.
Do you see this match going down or will it be scrapped entirely? Could Lashley get a match at WrestleMania 39 simply to maintain his momentum? Share your thoughts in the comments!
