WWE recently returned to the United Kingdom for a PPV event – bringing Money in the Bank over international waters for the first time ever. It was a big success, being a commercial and critical success.
However, one of the more shocking moments of the show came when John Cena made an unscheduled appearance. During this, he would praise the UK crowd for their passion before saying he hopes to bring WrestleMania to the UK for the first time ever. This got a massive response – and even those in parliament agree that this would be an incredible moment.
John Cena Isn’t The Only One Wanting To Bring WrestleMania To The UK
After the story of Cena’s quest to bring WrestleMania to the UK was picked up by the BBC – they would get a comment from Alex Davies-Jones, who is the Labour MP for Pontypridd in Wales. He is also a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group. Alex had the following to say about the potential of a UK based WrestleMania.
“I would love for it to happen. The APPG have already been talking about how we can help to make that happen in whatever way we can in terms of facilitating some conversations. Whatever we can do to make the UK attractive to host wrestling on the world stage we are more than happy to help facilitate. We would use our contact and negotiating skills to try and reach out to WWE, making conversations happen to try and promote the UK as a premier destination for world-class wrestling.”
We are seeing another marque professional wrestling event in the UK this year, with All Elite Wrestling running All In from the iconic Wembley Stadium.
Wembley would be a suitable spot for WWE to hold a WrestleMania event, though nothing has been made official at this time. We know that WrestleMania 40 is set for Philadelphia, but no future plans have been announced past 2024.
