Adam Cole fell short at AEW All In – unable to take the AEW World Championship off of MJF. It was an epic match, and in the end – Cole was able to maintain his friendship with MJF – much to the dismay of Roderick Strong.
Cole has also left All In with the ROH World Tag Team Championships – having beaten Aussie Open alongside MJF. Tonight, we will hear from Cole – and find out his next steps.
MJF & Cole Will Defend ROH World Tag Team Championships At All Out
Before this match, we’d see a conversation between MJF & Cole. They remain friends, but MJF is taking a week off after Cole tried to break his neck and made him wrestle twice.
MJF will be in action at All Out, defending the ROH World Tag Team Championships against the winner of a Battle Royale.
He will next defend the AEW World Championship against the winner of the World Championship Eliminator Tournament – with that match set for AEW Grand Slam 2023.
Cole would hit the ring live, calling his match with MJF one of the greatest stories ever told in the ring. It was the most special night in the life of Cole – and he thanks all the fans that made this happen.
While MJF is banged up, Cole promises he will be 100% come All Out – and they’ll make their first of many title defences using that Double Clothesline.
Adam Cole Confronted By Roderick Strong & The Kingdom
Roderick Strong & The Kingdom would hit the ring – still peeved about the result. Strong was still wearing his neck brace, and Cole doesn’t care about that.
Mike Bennett would grab the microphone and told a story. Ring of Honor in 2010 in the ECW arena, they wrestled a match that got them contracts. They were bonded for life, Cole was at this wedding, and they travelled the world.
Cole & Bennett could still be friends – but he’s forgotten just what The Kingdom has meant to him. Matt Taven would speak next, saying that Cole needed The Kingdom to take over ROH – just to jump for Bullet Club.
Then, he left for Florida where he surrounded himself with friends to hold onto the top prize there for as long as possible.
Taven knows Cole’s game – he uses people to get to the top. He’s using MJF to stay close to the AEW World Championship, just like he’s used The Kingdom & Roderick Strong.
Cole would remind everyone that MJF is not just a friend, but his best friend. Strong would announce he’s entering the tournament, and will do what Cole couldn’t do – beat MJF to become the champion.
Cole would try to point to the neck of Strong, but Strong would remind him that he can beat the AEW roster with a hurt neck. He’ll just break their backs on the way to gold.
Kris Statlander Leads Unlikely Allies Into Battle
All In was a major turning point in the history of the AEW Women’s division, as Saraya became the new AEW Women’s World Champion. Tonight, former champion Hikaru Shida will team with Britt Baker & TBS Champion Kris Statlander for a massive trios match.
Facing them down is Nyla Rose, Marina Shafir & Emi Sakura – who can be three of the most dangerous women in the company, sporting 189 combined AEW victories.
Shida would start things with Sakura, driving her into the corner for some downward punches. A tag was offered by Statlander, but Shida instead chose Baker to enter the fight. Sakura got the tag to Shafir, who would use her MMA influence to take Baker down to the mat.
Baker would be quickly isolated on the wrong side of the ring, and even had Sakura sitting on her back and pretending to sip some tea.
Nyla Rose would hit some knee strikes to the spine of Baker, before trying for a pinfall. Statlander was yet to get into the match but stayed ready as Sakura hit a running crossbody into the corner of the ring.
Baker would crawl to the corner and found Statlander, who was met in the ring by Shafir. A kick would be caught, and Shafir was lifted into the Electric Chair Drop – only for Rose to break the pinfall up.
Ruby Soho Steals The Belt From Statlander Ahead Of All Out
Sakura & Rose would hit a double facebusters on Statlander, before Shida & Baker would try to make the save. Baker would accidentally kick Shida, before taking a chokeslam from Rose. Statlander would clear the ring, causing a pile of opponents to form at ringside for a diving crossbody.
Shafir was rolled back into the ring and hit with Saturday Night Fever – getting the pinfall victory for the TBS Champion. Shida & Baker would argue about their miscue at ringside while Ruby Soho rushed the ring. She would hit the No Future Kick and stole the TBS Championship for herself, kissing it before leaving it on the ramp.
Statlander will defend against Soho at All Out this weekend. Another title match announced for the show is former ROH World Television Champion Shane Taylor facing Samoa Joe for the belt.
