When Jack Perry was calling out the retired Jerry Lynn, he was thinking he could badmouth the history of ECW and the FTW Championship without having to get physical.
After all, most people who were active in that promotion are retired like Lynn – but Perry forgot one of the biggest stars. Rob Van Dam has finally arrived in All Elite Wrestling, and is taking aim at Perry.
The legacy of RVD is one of winning championships just about everywhere he’s been, and even as he ages – he remains as athletic and hard hitting as ever.
With FTW rules in place, weapons are level tonight – which suits someone like RVD perfectly, and makes this potentially the toughest challenge of Perry’s career.
Tournament Announced For AEW Women’s World Championship Match At All In Division
Before this match – a tournament would be announced, setting up a four way match for All In for the AEW Women’s World Championship.l
Toni Storm has a spot due to her rematch clause, and the winner of Hikaru Shida vs. Anna Jay will be the second name confirmed. The other matches include Saraya vs. Skye Blue and Britt Baker vs. The Bunny – making for a huge potential match for the women’s division.
There is some history baked into the most likely match of Shida vs. Baker vs. Saraya vs. Storm. Baker was the one to end the initial reign of Shida as AEW Women’s World Champion.
She was also the first opponent of Saraya in AEW, with Saraya getting the win at Full Gear 2022. Storm & Saraya remain allies, but with gold on the line – alliances tend to fall apart. Regardless of how this tournament plays out, there will be a great showcase at All In for the women’s division.
Jack Perry Enters His First FTW Rules Match
Perry would wear some gear inspired by Jerry Lynn, and would attack RVD from behind before the bell. It would be confirmed that FTW Rules is Falls Count Anywhere, but RVD would get a signature roll up for a two count in the ring. A leg lariat in the corner set up Rolling Thunder, but Perry would flee the ring.
RVD would follow and would battle free of a suplex attempt. Perry was hung up on the barricade, with the signature spinning legdrop following as RVD jumped off the apron.
This would see Perry meet the barricade face first, but somehow recover – driving RVD into the barricade before setting up a table.
RVD would shove Perry back into the ring and grab some steel chairs, a signature weapon of RVD’s. They were thrown into the ring, and RVD would just arm Perry – who used the chairs to his advantage before RVD could. Perry would beat RVD down before trying to mock him with Rolling Thunder – only for RVD to dodge.
A monkey flip would send Perry flying across the ring and into the corner – and RVD followed with a chair assisted dropkick.
Perry had a steel chair placed across his chest, and Rolling Thunder would land. A Split Legged Moonsault would miss as Perry rolled away, only to thrown a chair and get the referee instead.
Perry tried for the superplex, but was shoved down to the floor and through the table. RVD would roll him into the ring and hit the Five Star Frog Splash.
With the referee down, Perry had time to recover. RVD would argue with the referee, and Perry would hit a Low Blow before a roll up for the three count.
