Since the start of All Elite Wrestling, there has been a handful of unknown names who have become massive stars for the company. At the top of that list are the so called ‘Four Pillars of AEW’, MJF, Darby Allin, Jack Perry & Sammy Guevara.
While they all have their strengths and weaknesses, CM Punk sees Darby Allin as the future of the company and a true franchise player.
CM Punk Praises Darby Allin
During an interview with Sports Illustrated, CM Punk would offer praise for one of the AEW Originals – that being Darby Allin. Punk would be asked who the future face of the company could be, and had the following to say.
“It’s Darby Allin. He’s still fairly young, and he always makes chicken salad out of chicken sh–. He’s got that ‘It Factor’, and he’s really getting comfortable. We had a whole big promo segment a few weeks ago on Collision, and I thought he shined. That made me super proud. He has a ton to offer, as long as he doesn’t kill himself jumping over his house in a f—— monster truck or something like that.”
Allin was the first opponent of CM Punk in AEW, facing him at All Out 2021.
AEW Has A Lot Of Trust In Allin’s Abilities
AEW is showing increased trust in Darby Allin. He is currently juggling the build for two separate PPV matches. Allin is feuding with the Mogul Embassy ahead of All In, and with Christian Cage & Luchasaurus for All Out. He will team with Sting in a tag team coffin match at All In, and face Luchasaurus for the TNT Championship at All Out.
Allin is a proven workhorse for AEW at this point – and has proven that he can handle anything asked of him. Perhaps the only thing stopping AEW from making him the next AEW World Champion is his current plans to climb Mount Everest – and plant an AEW flag on top. You can read more about that here.
