Comebacks in wrestling aren’t anything new but returns after a significant amount of time away from the industry is different. Take former WCW undercard talent Lash LeRoux being scheduled for an in-ring return at GCW’s upcoming show in Chicago.
Former WCW Star Lash LeRoux Scheduled for In-Ring Return at September GCW Chicago Show
Joining WCW in 1998, Lash LeRoux spent most of his time as enhancement talent or a featured talent on shows such as WCW Saturday Night and WCW Pro. He would also be a part of the Cruiserweight division but experienced no success.
Lash LeRoux would see a career boost under Vince Russo’s creative direction as Corporal Cajun, a member of the chaotic Misfits in Action. As MIA got a lot of time on TV and were involved in several storylines, LeRoux was seen more favorably with a character and some association as a result.
After all, it was a time of factions and alliances in WCW. It was better to involve yourself with some faction unless you had an abundance of charisma as a singles star. In Lash’s case, he was able to fit in with a group of midcard talent and even became World Tag Team Champion with Chavo Guerrero Jr—as Lt. Loco.
Lash LeRoux remained with WCW until it closed in 2001 and took to the southern indies up until the late 2000s. In his last active year, he wrestled as an enhancement talent for Wrestle Birmingham and the former WWE developmental territory Deep South Wrestling.
In June 2023, he was shown doing some bumps following Top Guy Weekend and was later announced for GCW Say You Will in Chicago on September 1, 2023.
No opponent or match has been announced for Lash LeRoux and who knows if the Ragin’ Cajun will continue to be an active star. GCW has a tendency to lure out stars of the past for its events but LeRoux is real surprise as it appeared that he was done in 2006.
Were you a fan of Lash LeRoux in WCW? Are you looking forward to seeing him in action 17 years after his last match? Also, do you think Lash LeRoux could’ve been better utilized than he was in WCW?
