Recently, Hawaii suffered a great loss. A brush fire grew out of control, and would level the historic city of Lahaina. This was just one wildfire on the island of Maui, but has already left 55 dead and it will take years for the community to recover from damages.
Relief efforts have popped up around the world, as humanity comes together to help those in need. This now extends to the world of professional wrestling, as AEW CEO Tony Khan is ready to donate the proceeds from a week of AEW programming to support the community.
Tony Khan Announces Support For The Maui Food Bank
Tony Khan would announce some changes to the coming week of AEW programming, ready to support those affected by this disaster. Khan would post the following to social media.
Based on the horrific fires in Maui, I’ve changed AEW’s upcoming schedule to provide assistance. Next week on Wed/Fri/Sat, it’s AEW Fight For The Fallen 2023 on AEW Dynamite, AEW Rampage and AEW Collision. Proceeds from AEW on 8/16 Nashville + 8/19 Lexington will go to @MauiFoodBank.
Fight For The Fallen Is AEW’s Way Of Giving Back Since 2019
Fight For The Fallen is generally held in July, and has supported victims of gun violence, people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, survivors of domestic violence, and various ocean based charties. AEW has already had a charitable side, and this is just another example of this.
It’s unclear if AEW has any huge matches booked for their upcoming shows, and we can expect more information between AEW Rampage & Collision this weekend.
Previously announced segments for the 08.16 episode of AEW Dynamite included Britt Baker vs. The Bunny and a sit down interview between Kenny Omega & Jim Ross.
Previous AEW Fight For The Fallen events resembled PPV cards, with main events like Dustin & Cody Rhodes vs. The Young Bucks, Brian Cage vs. Jon Moxley, & Bryan Danielson vs. Daniel Garcia.
