Matt Taven & Mike Bennett are on a quest to teach the AEW roster about neck health – all in the name of Roderick Strong.
This starts tonight with Best Friends – Trent Berretta & Chuck Taylor. Trent has previously had neck fusion surgery – and tonight, The Kingdom will look to put him back on the shelf. Their strategy is to hit a low blow and a piledriver – and we’ll see how that plays out.
The Kingdom Crush Best Friends With A Simple Plan
Best Friends had Rocky Romero in their corner tonight, and would look to hit piledrivers on The Kingdom as the match began – but Taven & Bennett were able to slip to safety.
Bennett would be met in the ring by Taylor as the match became official, taking a backdrop and a chop as Trent made the tag. Best Friends would take The Kingdom down to the floor, but a missed spear from Trent would see him crash into the barricade.
With Trent down, The Kingdom would work on breaking down Taylor as they cut the ring in half. Taven would hit a Suplex Facebuster, before Bennett hit a blindside elbow to keep the pressure on.
A swinging neckbreaker would follow, as they began to preach the Neck Strong lifestyle. Bennett would run the ropes before a simple kick to the face on Taylor, before Trent would manage the tag.
A double dropkick would follow as Trent came off the top rope – but Taven managed an enziguri in response. Taylor hit Sole Food on Taven through the ropes, before Trent hit the swinging DDT for a two count.
Bennett would hit a DDT on Trent for a near fall, with Taylor breaking the pinfall up before taking out Taven on the floor by whipping him into the steel steps.
Trent hit a Death Valley Driver on Bennet, before the Doomsday Knee Combo from Best Friends back in the ring. The Kingdom would take piledrivers, and Bennett was just able to get his foot on the bottom rope to save the match. Bennett would hit low blows behind the eyes of the referee before The Kingdom hit a Spike Piledriver on Taylor for the win.
Julia Hart Moves To 28 Match Winning Streak Ahead Of Title Challenge
Julia Hart is one day away from her chance to become the TBS Champion. This puts her against Kris Statlander, who is also the last woman to defeat Hart in an AEW ring.
Tonight, Hart looks to add one more notch to her winning streak before WrestleDream, and send a clear message to Statlander. Before this match – we’d briefly hear from Statlander, who is not scared of someone who is all smoke and mirrors like Hart.
Vertvixen would be the opponent of Hart, making her Collision debut. Hart would quickly take her down with a lariat, before slamming Vixen’s head into the canvas.
Vixen would be choked on the middle rope, before a snapmare into the middle of the ring for a kick to the spine. Hart would lose control for a moment before hitting a superkick.
Vixen would be stomped into the mat before Hart would take flight with a moonsault for the pinfall victory. That’s 28 wins in a row – and Statlander is set to be #29 tomorrow night at WrestleDream… unless Statlander is ready to fight tonight instead. With Best Friends to back her up, the TBS Champion would march to the ring.
Statolander & Hart have a brief face off, but this was a simple mind game from Hart – showing she’s in the head of the champion.
