Gwyneth Paltrow is standing up for her recommendations on wellness, which some have criticized as a “starvation diet.”
Gwyneth Paltrow Defends Her Diet Following Mass Backlash-‘Cult, Starvation Diet’
In a recent episode of the “Art of Being Well” podcast, Paltrow shared details about her eating habits, such as intermittent fasting, bone broth lunches, and paleo dinners, which gained attention from the media.
She expressed that these practices have had a significant and favorable impact on her overall well-being. Paltrow attributed her wellness advice, which has been criticized as a “starvation diet,” to the effects of long COVID and excessive inflammation.
In her comments, she said: “I have been working to really focus on foods that aren’t inflammatory, [and] it’s been working really well.
“This is based on my medical results and extensive testing I’ve done over time. [It wasn’t] meant to be advice for anyone else.” And yet, she drew a lot of criticism for the diet.
Meghan McCain made negative remarks about Paltrow’s appearance, claiming that she looks tired and unappealing. Although she doesn’t typically comment on other women’s physical attributes, McCain likened Paltrow’s wellness practices to a cult and used the term “washed-out” to describe her appearance.
In her comments, Meghan said: “Her life sounds like a living hell. Nothing about her day sounds nourishing or fulfilling. The laser focus on ‘wellness’ seems obsessive and, quite frankly, unwell.” Despite this being the case, Paltrow did have some supporters.
On Thursday, 16th March 2023, Bethenny Frankel rejected the notion that Paltrow’s remarks encourage unhealthy eating habits, as they are directed towards women in their middle age who are mothers.
This is understandable, but the fact that Paltrow’s Goop brand caters for people from a broad audience suggests that her influence is far reaching. With that being said, the social media response was very clear.
Large numbers of people began to bash the star on the grounds that Paltrow’s appearance was not conducive to a good diet. Therefore, her method of using IVs was heavily criticized.
One person wrote: “Nothing about Paltrow’s lifestyle is even remotely normal, and it hasn’t been for decades. Remember her “cupping”? and her obsessive dieting go back years and years.
“It’s not healthy. The IV stuff and the obsessions with food seem to have grown exponentially in the last few years.”
According to a source within the palace, the decision of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to decline their invitation to King Charles III’s Coronation unless their requests are fulfilled poses a risk of causing confusion and disorder during the event.
