According to reports, Kate Middleton made efforts to alleviate the conflict between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and other members of the Royal Family prior to the couple’s decision to step back from their royal responsibilities.
Kate Middleton Tried To Fix Things With Harry And Meghan-Says Tom Bower
In 2020, Harry and Meghan’s final public appearance as members of the royal family was at the Commonwealth Day Service, during which they were offered an olive branch.
It was widely known that the Sussexes were unhappy with their life in the royal family and had disagreements with other members of the family.
Upon hearing the news that they would not be included in the Queen’s procession at the commencement of the service, Harry and Meghan were reportedly feeling distressed and sentimental.
They were seated with the other invitees instead. The Daily Mail reported that Kate and Prince William proposed to skip the procession as well and sit with Harry and Meghan.
Despite expectations, the anticipated reconciliation did not happen, and the strained relationship between them was evident. On arrival, Harry and Meghan sat in the second row without standing to welcome Kate and William.
With that being said, Tom Bower in his book, ‘Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War between the Windsors’ had this to say: “Eventually, to end the dispute, William and Kate agreed they too would wait with Harry and Meghan.
“As the members of the Royal Family filed into the Abbey, the frayed relationships could not be concealed. Kate had blanked the Sussexes and William’s greeting was cold.”
Harry acknowledged feeling anxious during the 2020 service, as it was the first time he was seeing his family after he and Meghan had stepped back from their royal duties.
And given the numerous revelations that Harry and Meghan went on to disclose, it is understandable that the Duke felt like this, especially if he was aware at the time of what his future conduct was going to be like.
In some prior comments, Harry remarked: “We were nervous seeing the family because all the TV cameras and everybody watching at home and everybody watching in the audience.
“It’s like living through a soap opera where everybody else views you as entertainment.” The social media response was very clear.
Large numbers of people felt that Kate had acted appropriately in order to avoid adding further fuel to the fire, which could be used against the firm by keeping everyone at arm’s length.
One person wrote: “The change is because she’s dealing with a narcissist…educate yourself on what that actually means instead of worshiping an empty vessel.
