Rumours have been circulating that the Royal Family may choose to revoke the titles of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
Meghan Markle Could Get New Royal Title If The Name Duchess Of Sussex Is Removed
This is in response to the unfavourable reaction to their Netflix documentary series. Nevertheless, a royal specialist has divulged that even if King Charles III decides to take away their titles, Meghan will still be entitled to one due to a loophole in the monarchy’s regulations.
In her comments, Ingrid Seward said: “I don’t think anything will happen to the titles because, if they lose their titles, Harry is still a prince of the blood, and Meghan instead of being the Duchess of Sussex, [would] be Princess Henry.”
Meghan could use the title ‘Princess Henry’, as it is Harry’s actual name. In spite of this, there have been consistent demands to remove the titles from Harry and Meghan after they stepped away from the Royal Family and migrated to California at the beginning of 2020.
On their wedding day, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip bestowed the Sussex dukedom to the couple, and they held onto the honour even after they left the Royal Family.
Over and over, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have utilised their royal titles to advertise their ventures and public engagements while in America.
A survey conducted by Express.co.uk readers revealed a widespread approval of taking away their titles. In response to the question, ““Should Harry and Meghan be stripped of their titles,” the results showed they should.
Out of the 25,142 people who responded to the survey, an overwhelming majority of 97% (24,255) voted in favour of the proposition. On the contrary, only 3% (776) voted against the idea, while 111 people were unsure.
Ultimately, there would be no way of going back if the titles were removed. Time will tell how it all plays out moving forward. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
