Idris had become an internationally renowned sex symbol and many of his admirers considered him to be a potential replacement for Daniel Craig in the role of James Bond.
Despite this being the case, it was very hard for him to contend with. In his comments, he said: “I said to the photographer: “I don’t always photograph great in pictures, this picture needs to be great.”
Currently, he is engaged in a promotional campaign for a movie adaptation of his BBC program Luther, which played a significant role in his rise to fame.
During his media appearances, he received significant criticism for revealing that he has stopped describing himself as a “black actor.”
Even though he faced severe criticism online, he stood his ground and did not give in, expressing his annoyance at being dragged into a meaningless and trendy social media dispute.
The social media response was very clear. A certain subset of people were of the view that Elba was not the most attractive person in the Hollywood industry. Meanwhile, others began to mock him with some rather derogatory remarks.
One person wrote: “I guess there’s something wrong with me since I can’t see the sexy part,” while another person stated: “Don’t worry Idris, you’re not the Sexiest Man now so move on.”
