Recently, The Miz gained his X-Factor back. His wife Maryse is by his side once again, and this has given The Miz the upper hand at times with his on-going feud with Edge. That is, until Beth Phoenix entered the mix once again. Now tonight, the Hall of Fame couple meets the It Couple – in one of the biggest mixed tag team matches in WWE history.
Beth Phoenix Overpowers The Miz With Ease
Beth & Maryse would start this match, but Maryse fled the ring and led Beth on a wild chase before being saved by Miz. Edge would become legal, and we’d see him punch The Miz into the corner. The Miz would send Edge to the outside after Maryse got a cheap shot in, but didn’t do anything of note before sending him back into the ring.
Some weak kicks would follow from The Miz, who was still doing Daniel Bryan’s moves over half a year since Bryan left WWE for greener pastures. A neckbreaker would follow, before Maryse got another cheap shot. Phoenix grabbed a chair, but wasn’t willing to play ring around the rosey to catch Maryse, and threw it aside.
Edge would hit the Impaler, and Maryse was hoping he wouldn’t get the tag. The Miz was kicked out of the ring, but Phoenix would slam the head of Maryse off the mat. Maryse would take a spinning sidewalk slam, and The Miz had to save the match. Phoenix would show she’s almost as big as former two time WWE Champion The Miz, and easily drove him into the corner for some elbow strikes.
The ‘Grit Couple’ Wins
Maryse hit Phoenix with her purse, but this only got a two count. Whatever was in that purse suddenly had Phoenix half dead, while Maryse taunted. A horrible camel clutch would be applied, and the crowd was wondering why this match was placed so late in the card. Phoenix was able to power Maryse up into an electric chair, but couldn’t move into the Glam Slam.
Edge finally get into the match and get a near fall, before Phoenix nailed Miz with a powerbomb. An elbow drop from Edge would only get a two count. Maryse hit Edge with a hurricarana, before the French Kiss DDT on Maryse. Edge took Skull Crushing Finale, but that wasn’t enough to beat Edge. A double Skull Crushing Finale wouldn’t work, and Edge & Phoenix hit a double spear and double glam slam to finally end this match.
