A TikTok video has gone viral after a group of police officers were pictured getting on the subway without wearing masks in New York.
TikToker Outraged As Large Numbers Of Police Officers Violate Mask Mandates On The Subway
According to reports, anyone riding the subway in New York is required to wear a mask once they are either on the subway or inside the actual station.
And given that police officers are supposed to be enforcing the law and setting an example, any failure to do so only goes on to undermine their credibility.
In the video here, we can see a huge number of police officers entering the subway and getting on it without wearing any masks. The TikTok uploader is outraged at what she is seeing.
The video was captioned by the following comments: “Dozens of NYPD commit fair evasion & ride subway maskless. Always above ‘law’ & MTA mask mandate.”
The video instantly went viral with thousands of views across social media and naturally people had a lot to say on the matter.
This was especially since an increasing number of people were becoming fed up with having to abide by rules that they do not necessarily understand, and yet, see the enforcers of those rules showing a flagrant disregard for them.
One person wrote: “I would laugh but then it clicks that these people are actually meant to be upholding the law and they dont even have the moral compass to wear masks.”
While another stated: “They say their motto is to protect and serve but never wear masks. I’ve never seen a cop in any state with a mask on.”
It is not clear whether there is going to be any further repercussions for the police officers involved, nor is it clear the reasons as to why they were all not wearing masks. However, that did not stop the TikToker from getting criticism.
She went on to claim how a police officer had allegedly sent her a private message on social media and referred to her as a ‘loser’ for simply trying to police what she believed to be a violation of rules.
